The Mender Of All Space

I normally don’t post Go Fund Me links but this is for my one of my sister’s rescue dogs. Without this surgery she will continue to get worse and struggle for every breath. The surgery is very expensive! It is $4,500! Yikes!!! If you can help out, please do. I would definitely appreciate it and so would Winifred. We have affectionately nicknamed her “Wheezyfluff”.

“I hadn’t gone dancing in so long,” she said wistfully. “It’d be nice to go out and dance with someone.”

Her feet popped out from the bottom of her red skirt, delicate black slippers swaying from side to side rhythmically. “I don’t think I’d ever seen the entirety of that movie,” she admitted. “I do remember the scene where he danced in the abandoned hive energetically, but I don’t understand what had lead up to that exactly.”

Once again, Kanaya really should know better, but she’s proving to have a very bad memory this evening.

“I suppose if I absolutely had to use it, I could expand on my clothing line and officially make it more than a one troll show.”

That was a nice thought. An official buiness. With official employees. Official business with official gross net worth and official everything, What would she call it? Who would she hire? Where would she want to go with the buiness?

She gave yet another sigh and put the office designs to the side.

The office building, though. She hadn’t seen that one since the first boom of the capital. “It is an office building,” she assured, “so having many rooms would be ideal. Unfortunately, this design was too big and didn’t fit within the permit allowed at the time.”

Such a shame, too. It would’ve been a huge building, lavishly decorated and bold in it’s design. Something to stand out from the usual architecture. As much as she loved the intricate designs and statues she herself insisted upon, too much of the same thing would easily become boring quickly. The office building would’ve been full of sharp edges and drastic angles to contrast the elegant curves and symmetrical designs of the rest of the buildings and landmarks.

Big. Bold. Spontaneous. Clashing. It was all at once something she wanted and something she knew would never fit in this city. Perhaps she could sell the design to someone somewhere more forgiving to it’s outlandish design.

“This is a curious bunch to pick out.” She looked the four over a few times, tilting her head as she tried to guess what might’ve caught Vriska’s eye. More than a few of the clothes have pops of red in them, so that might explain them, but the office building...

Why does she have cooked garlic? For the irony, of course. That’s how it worked, right?

After getting a glass of water and cutting the sandwich into smaller pieces, Kanaya walked back to the living room, already feeling much more refreshed by Vriska feeding her. Of course she frowned when she saw the mess, but she also wasn’t about to go cleaning after she got her matesprit with her for the first time in months.

It didn’t stop her from cupping her face and kissing her forehead, though.

“I’ll be back with a sandwich,” she whispered. “Stay here.”

Kanaya, the naive girl that she is, probably should know better than to leave a person who was in the state Vriska was in surrounded by expensive, unique and colorful statues and paintings. Books and statue upon tall, graceful shelves. Paintings of important people, fruit and city scenes hung in minimalistic frames in various places on the walls. Even the clear glass table had folders and portfolios full of colored sketches, building designs (mostly scrapped), random models and plants and animals.

You smile lightly, hugging the Serket close as you stand the both of you up to attempt switching places.

Blood.

It was easy to be ‘addicted’ to what your body said you needed. It was easy to take it, sink yourself into it in ways you couldn’t any other thing. No sex, no drug, no thrill would ever compare to the feeling of living that blood would give her.

Like it always does, always used to, it’d start with a warmth in her stomach, focused and welcoming and loving as if it were healing old wounds and everything that came with them. Within the next few minutes the warmth would spread and her pulse would start. A pulse, mind you, that wasn’t there before in the same way it was during feeding. Fresh blood was quickly absorbed, flowing through her body and making her heart flutter as if happy it were being used as more than just a place holder.

The taste of her blood was interesting. Cool and salty like Kanaya would expect the sea to be, while still holding the familiar metallic ting she’d expect from just about anyone’s blood. It was thick, but flowed freely and didn’t taste as fatty as she might come to expect. Vriska must be eating fairly healthily...

“I’d rather not,” she sighed, lips pressing steadily harder into Vriska’s skin with each kiss. “If I drink too much, make sure to pull me away.”

How long had it been since she fed on a living troll? A long, long while. The lessons of her older drinker kin rang in the back of her mind as she kissed and sucked against Vriska’s skin. There was a vein she had to look for. Slow, steady but strong and in her neck. If she bit into the faster pumping veins... Well, it could get messy if nothing else.

At least Vriska couldn’t die from this. It was just an act of giving food, right? So it’s not heroic and wouldn’t result in death unless the situation were more drastic... Right?

Kanaya sucked firmly against Vriska’s pulse, slender arms wrapped around the cerulean’s middle, fingers caressing her sides and hips. The smells of the sea and something more musky filled the drinker’s nostrals, a content hum slipping from her lips before her fangs rested against the tender flesh...
