Some of that fire had been smothered, back in 2020, back when he first got clean. He felt like he could do that, now- like he could listen.

Listen and blow a lungful of smoke out, running a hand through his hair. “This‘s usually when I’d offer you a drink, but given the circumstances…” a sigh, “Tea?”

Renton thought he was pretty good at this point at reading Sean, but his friend was giving nothing away. He told himself that that was only fair. He didn't deserve to be given a break. At least Sean was hearing him out, and listening.

"Tea sounds grand, tho. Aye." Renton breathed out a sigh of relief, and gave Sean a little bit of a smile.
