ALIAS: Gadfly
REAL NAME: Warren Whitlock
AGE: Forty… something. Probably. He won’t say.
POWERS: Can speak to snakes. Can’t control them, can only speak to them. Many do not care for him, but he will occasionally find a cooperative one. His main ability, however, is transmuting snake venom into a special oil with miraculous healing properties. It tastes disgusting, however, and unfortunately adding any sort of flavoring makes it completely useless. He is immune to snake venom as a result of his powers, but perfectly susceptible to other venoms and poisons.
PERSONALITY: Fast-talking, opportunistic, and can be charismatic when one is not put off by his natural sort of sliminess. Nevertheless, he has a hidden heart of, well… not gold, exactly. Maybe pyrite? He is incredibly fond of his loyal snake companion, Mustache— and not just because she is his only reliable source of venom! Surprisingly on the heroes’ side! Can’t make money if the city’s destroyed, after all. A bit of a coward and hates field missions.
BIO: Gadfly found himself in Monoton City sometime after his messy divorce from his bride of three years, Missy. Embarrassingly, over a decade later, he is still not over her even though she’s long moved on from him. Word on the street is her friends all convinced her she was too good for him… and she eventually realized they were right.
He had always been a bit of a shyster and opportunistic salesman, but he’d never had any luck until he discovered his powers. After his divorce, he took a trip to the Amazon to “find himself” and subsequently discovered his abilities deep in the jungle… and he returned to civilization with a new snake companion, a new product ready to unleash upon the masses, and a new lease on life. He’d show them! HE’D SHOW THEM ALL!
Joined the Hero Headquarters initially out of an inflated sense of pride… and to his dismay discovered he was actually needed. Hero work cuts into valuable selling hours, unfortunately.
