BØRNS has always been so interesting, musically and visually. He knocks it out of the park with Blue Madonna, an album packed to the brim with originality, groovy sounds, shot through with a relatable pop vibe. Opening with the powerful “God Save Our Young Blood”, and accompanied by indie queen Lana Del Rey, BØRNS lets you know that you’re supposed to feel upbeat and a little funky, but ready to dance throughout Blue Madonna. Moving along to rock you a little bit, “Faded Heart” and “Sweet Dreams” show some stage-ready sensuality and genuine sweetness. A personal favorite of mine is, the definitely dancey “Man”; he sings about his devotion to someone he cares deeply about, and announces that no matter what, he wants to be their man. Other great highlights include “Second Night of Summer”, “I Don’t Want U Back”, “Blue Madonna” (”secretly” featuring vocals from Lana), and the closing ballad “Bye-bye Darling”. BØRNS has certainly come a long way since I first discovered his single “10,000 Emerald Pools” back in 2014!!

2018 opened with a few fantastic releases, one being Bolt in the Blue, our first EP from LPX, former front woman of MS MR and founder of the record label Neon Gold. The first three singles of the EP were released throughout 2017, and with the release, we receive 3 more! LPX is proving to show more and more raw talent in writing, producing, and singing with this punk-pop-rock project. Check out Bolt in the Blue, and go ahead and blast “Red Queen” at full volume and you’ll find out who LPX really is.

Only one more week until ionnalee releases her new album, Everyone Afraid To Be Forgotten. Jonna is so inspiring and magical and has been someone I look up to since I discovered iamamiwhoami when they released "Play" just before Kin came out. I am so ready to welcome this new album into my life, and I truly hope much success comes with its release and with the Kickstarter for their world tour!!

It has occurred to me that somewhere in the holiday shuffle and getting ready to release my annual playlist, I never posted about Pop 2, Charli XCX’s latest mixtape! Well, it’s fucking fabulous. I, personally, took a while to warm up to a few tracks (particularly the ones with seemingly out-of-place rap breaks), but now I groove to the whole thing. I find Pop 2 to be a perfect soundtrack for when I’m at the gym. Charli has a fantastic way of going about featuring artists on these tracks, just as she did with Number 1 Angel. The best track has got to be “Out of My Head” featuring Tove Lo and (my recent obsession) ALMA, and produced by SOPHIE. Many of the tracks on this mixtape could definitely be radio-ready, but this combination of artists and lyrics has the most potential to be accepted into the mainstream. Much of Pop 2 embodies the underground/experimental sound of executive producer A.G. Cook’s record label, PC Music, and the entire genre it sparked up. “Backseat” and “Tears”, featuring Carly Rae Jepsen and Caroline Polachek (respectively) are both more emotionally-centered lyrics, and centered around a more art-electro sound and song structure. “Lucky” is one of two tracks that does not feature another artist, and showcases both Charli’s vocal talent and Cook’s signature autotune and production style in a sort of electro-ballad. “I Got It” is a BANGER, featuring Brooke Candy, CupcakKe, and Pablo Vittar. That one took me a while, but the production and arrangement are stellar, so give it a try. Finally, I must acknowledge “Porsche”. Co-written and featuring MØ, this track could have ended up on either artist’s next album, and is obviously great to drive to! Check out this release; the sheer power of featured artists and producers is worth your listen! Charli XCX is most definitely underrated.

Constant collaborators, MØ and Diplo, are such a cute pair of musicians, seeming to have a sort of sibling-type relationship. You can see clearly in this music video for their latest collab, “Get It Right”, that they just wanted to show how close they truly are and the love they share! This track is yet another banger (reminiscent of the globally successful “Lean On”), and it’s just what we deserve as fans of either or both of them. These two are most definitely ones to watch over the next year in terms of mainstream popularity, but anyone who knows them already considers them both superstars in their own right. Tonight, they will perform the remix version of “Get It Right” featuring GoldLink on the Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon! Check it out, MØ is a fantastic performer!

Cashmere Cat, Major Lazer, and Tory Lanez have teamed up to start off 2018 with a fantastically well-produced pop jammer. They were also assisted by Benny Blanco, Ed Sheeran, and Palmistry. Cashmere Cat and Major Lazer just keep proving over and over that they are wildly good at collaborating with artists, and I, personally, just can’t get enough. Check out the video here!

Troye Sivan has been killing it since he burst on the scene even before his debut, Blue Neighborhood, and he is back and is better than ever! With his first single, "My My My", Troye slays us a vogue-worthy song and video. Just last week, he performed on SNL and embodied the most confidant version of himself I've personally ever seen, and I couldn't be more proud. Just before his appearance on SNL, his second single this year, "The Good Side", shows us the emotionally tuned Troye we all know and love in a classic, almost Beatles or Harry Styles sort of sound strummed along by an acoustic guitar and broken up by minimalistic electro. As of yet, no album or more single announcements have appeared, but keep your social media eyes PEELED. Troye is coming, coming for us all!

FINALLY new music from LIZ!!! This is an absolute 90's/modern BOP. 2018 is starting off right with fresh sounds from incredible new artists. "Queen of Me" is a saucy track produced by the bouncy-smooth Wave Racer. With a little helping hand from female songwriting powerhouse, Jesse Saint John, hopefully this two-song single will put LIZ on the charts and on the mainstream map! Keep an eye on this girl, she's going places!!
