"The Royal Birth" My first post for Andy...🌊 That's how her story is began. Andy's birth happened after the battle against Black Manta & before Arthur & Mera's wedding. She looks really cute & just having fun with the things around her. I can see that's she's really brave despite her age. Maybe Andy is the first character that will get me into Aquaman books. I found that Arthur & Mera are such a great parents for Andy. Finger crossed we can get a new Aquaman series for Infinite Frontier soon, so I can see her character development. But in the meantime, she plays an important role in two Future State books: Justice League & Aquaman which I am really looking forward. "The Immortal Forces" Robin Eternal is the second book of Future State that interests me & I think this book is amazing. I have imagined that someday DC will give Tim & Steph their own book again because both are my favorite characters individually & as a couple & it's really great to have their own book in this Future State era. It indeed reminds me of James Tynion IV's Detective Comics run which also had Tim & Steph as the central character & I saw their relationship was really developed in that series. The plot is basically centered on Tim who has to prevent the Lazarus Resin to Gotham City. In Gotham, a new major Christoper Nakano has his own law enforcer organization named Magistrate who will hunt every person (including criminals & vigilantes) who acts outside the law. The Lazarus Resin is an experiment result from The Lazarus Pit that's being used by the government in Gotham to make the Magistrate's forces called Cybers to become immortal. While Bruce is 'killed' & Tim Fox takes the mantle, Tim is helped by Steph as Spoiler to do his mission. After Bruce's death, Steph hung up her cape. But she's back in action somehow when Gotham is under Magistrate's regime. Now, Tim enlists the help from Steph & a deaf girl named Darcy to stop The Lazarus Resin shipment before that thing can reach Gotham. Well, I still wonder how Steph lost her left eye in Future State 😂 & I like her costume design as well as her weapon. However, I'm really excited for the next & last issue. Plus, the great art by Eddy Barrow that shows a futuristic Gotham really amazes me. Best Future State book that I've read so far. "The Hunt for The Magic Users" So, basically Future State is a glimpse of unwritten future after the end of Death Metal saga, which not only restored DC multiverse & opened some new possibilities into DC omniverse, an "Infinite Frontier", but also opened a possible future of DC itself. There are some titles that interest me, but not so much. But I guess it's worth to be keeped up & it can build some potentials inside DC storylines. This is the first Future State story that I review, Justice League Dark. So, in Infinite Frontier this book will be included in Justice League book as a 10-pages backup story & in this Future State, it's the first time that DC will do it. But, I'm quite surprised 'cause it still feels like having its own book. The plot is quite interesting. All of the magic users have been captured by an evil sorcerer called Merlin & his army, who wants to rule the magic world & the JLD have fallen apart. The remaining members must be gathered to fight him back before he brings a chaos to the world. I love this new roster of Justice League Dark & It would be good if this roster is continued in Infinite Frontier. The writing is still nice & It has a fantastic art too I can see that Zee's really gorgeous. Overall, JLD is one of the book that is worth to read while we're waiting for Infinite Frontier. "The Freedom of Young Heroes" Part 2 She meets fellow young heroes & trained by the senior members. But instead, Diana wants to take her out, even she is backed up by the JL to help her. So, Teen Titans have to fight them & convince that this is the right place for young heroes. Maybe, Diana is still haunted by the death of Donna. Maybe she doesn't want the same thing happens to Cassie. Cassie also still feels sad after she lost Donna. I really love that her teammates & seniors back her up to make her stay in the team. I love that this story shows us the conflict between the mentors & their protégés. The mentors feel that she's still responsible for them. Meanwhile the protégés need a place for them to grow up. They don't want to always be controlled by them & just be sidekicks & The Titans always support each other. Despite the fierce clash between Justice League & Teen Titans, finally the mentors realize that they need this team. What does Titans mean to you? "The Freedom of Young Heroes" Part 1 This is the thing that I love from Titans more than the Justice League itself, freedom. Besides togetherness, Titans is a place for legacy characters or young heroes to train together, do a mission together, grow up together with their fellow young heroes not only as a team to fulfill their duty to protect the world, but also as a family too free from their mentors interruption. So someday, they can surpass their mentors. I think that this is the right place & the best place for them. Better than they're only trained by their mentors but just ended up being sidekicks for them. This story tells us about Diana who wants to take Cassie from the team. Since the beginning, she didn't agree that she is being in Teen Titans. She rejected to deliver Kory's invitation to Cassie. She thinks that Cassie isn't ready to be in that team. She also thinks that Cassie's mother doesn't agree that she lives with her superhero live too much. Diana thinks she's responsible for it as her mentor. Meanwhile, Cassie is struggling to balance her two worlds. She needs someone to help her with that problem & being in that team is the right solution. "The Magic Is Broken" The thing that makes me enjoy this Justice League Dark run is its story was built really well since the beginning and throughout the series, it's really consistent and lack of downgrade. Actually, I prefer this kind of approach to too much crossover with other series but lack of character development. Plus the art is extremely beautiful until the last issue & really fit with the magical theme although near the end of this series, the creative team was changed. This first issue of this book is a good foundation for the story & it leads to a strong reason why The Justice League Dark must be formed to fight against The Upside-Down Man, who will bring chaos to the magical world. Since the beginning, both Diana & Zee has been aware the magical world is unstable. Diana tries to recruit some heroes to form the JLD, but initially Zee is reluctant to join her. Then, she's trying to figure out about this problem herself. She gets a vision from her father that she needs to join Diana's team & protect the magic itself. I really love Zee's character development throughout this series & how she becomes the key to bring back the stability in the world of magic alongside Diana. That's why I consider this series is the best series that I have read in Rebirth era & it's really recommended. How did you enjoy this Justice League Dark run? "The Queen of Strategy: Part 2" Babs already known that Strange won't stick to his first plan. Instead of following Babs' commando, Helena decides to follow Strange's rule by killing one of the hostages (who she thinks is a murderer) so it could spare the other two. But, I love that Babs finally can execute her plan sucessfully. She infiltrates Strange's gambling system and flips it into her control, while Cass disarms Helena's weapons to prevent her from killing the hostage. Eventually, nobody has to become the victim. All are safe. This story is just an example of great Oracle story. I love that she outsmarts her enemies & can lead her agents really well. She can manage the conflict between them in a brilliant way. This kind of story is what I really need for her forward & hopefully DC can give a proper story so her return as Oracle wouldn't be meaningless. "The Queen of Strategy" So, Oracle is finally back in DC Infinite Frontier after this Babs' unique persona is being neglected by DC for almost a decade. But instead of making a theory about how this changes her status quo forward, I'm more interested to make a theory about what story DC (through Tynion & Tom Taylor) will offer & how they design this persona & put it inside the story that they make. From the interview with both writers, I see that both of them seem really serious to restore Oracle and make a fresh concept about it & hopefully they let TKJ goes away from Oracle's story. Moreover with a lot of Batfamily characters are going to appear, it would offer a great Oracle's story. I really love this issue. In short, Gotham City has been left unprotected by Bruce. So, it's time for his successor to takeover his role to protect the city. This chance is being utilized by Hugo Strange who has been escaped from Arkham Asylum. He sets a gambling game by kidnapping three people. His purpose is to prove that he's unworthy to protect this city as well as make profit for himself. He asks them to choose one person to be saved & the others would die. He also sets a time limit & people bet who will die first. What I love is this story really shows Babs as a master strategist and I will say that her strategy is really brilliant. She hacks the message so it can't be delivered to the new Batman. Then, she has five active agents (Huntress, Batgirl, Manhunter, Ragman, and Misfit) and splits them to rescue each of the hostages. Team 1 consists of Huntress & Batgirl, Team 2 consists of Manhunter & Ragman, and Misfit works alone. She buys a tie for her dad is a sweet moment 😊❤. Meanwhile, Detective Harvey Bullock & Renee Montoya are doing undercover as Santa & his assistant who entertain the children there because there is a clever thief who's been picking department store clean. Then, Babs is walking around to see in case the people need a help from Batgirl. Suddenly, he finds a boy who has been stolen a jewelry. But, that boy is actually Clayface in disguise. So, Babs has to suit up as Batgirl to help them & stop him. This moment is then adapted into the first episode of "The New Batman Adventures" titled "Holiday Knights". That episode also becomes one of my favorites. Babs changes her suit inside a fitting room is really funny 😁. Both BTAS & TNBA have been my favorite DC shows since I was a kid. These shows also introduced me to her character for the first time. So, they're really historic. This episode is good to be rewatched, especially on this Christmas Eve. It's pretty sad that this is the last solo issue of Justice League Dark before it will be included as a backstory in Justice League Book in DC Infinite Frontier. Today DC drop two Endless Winter-related issues and this issue of Justice League Dark becomes the seventh part of Endless Winter storyline. This issue continues Titans Endless Winter story. In that story, we see that Donna brings Barry to Themyscira to meet Queen Hippolyta and tells him the backstory of The Frost King. Then, Barry brings her to the Oblivion Bar. There, she tells that story to Diana, Barry, and other JLD members. Then, Diana & Zee go to New Myrra, formerly The Other Place where The JLD fought The Upside-Down Man to ask a help from Swamp-Thing. But, he becomes a part of New Myrra now and he can't leave that place. So, he thinks an alternative way. Meanwhile, Bobo, Kirk, & Khalid help Hyppolita to summon The Viking Prince's soul from Valhalla who died after he fought The Frost King alongside Hyppolita & Black Adam. After that, Diana & Zee come back from New Myrra & bring a part of Swamp-Thing from that place. That thing is merged with The Viking Prince's soul so he becomes the new champion of the green. This storyline has been interesting so far. This is continued in Black Adam story before becomes concluded in Justice League: Endless Winter #2 next week. Perhaps we can see all of the heroes fight The Frost King together. Plus, Amancay Nahuelpan's art is absolutely amazing here 😍. I gonna miss his art in Justice League Dark book. Actually, this arc leaves us with a hanging ending imo. I've guessed that Bruce & Damian will work together & save the Batfamily since the beginning. Yeah, although eventually it's Bruce that finishes Tommy himself. But, I really like Tomasi's writing of Bruce & Damian relationship here. Unfortunately we can't see what happen with the Batfamily after Hush is captured. That's why I'm not satisfied enough with the ending. Then, Bruce gives Damian his Robin emblem back, but apparently Damian doesn't want to become Robin for a while & decides to continue his solo mission. Meanwhile, Christoper Nakano wins the election & becomes the new mayor of Gotham City. At the end of this issue, Bruce takes his pets and apparently he leaves the city. But, where does he go? And what will Nakano do with the Gotham vigilantes after he wins the election? I understand that this arc & future arc is focused to Bruce & Damian relationship after he quitted from being Robin. Damn, I can't wait more for 2021! A few days ago, I put a question on my story when the 'Joker' series was announced and Tynion said on his Twitter that this series isn't only about Joker, but Jim Gordon also will become the main star in this series. So, I had a question, if it's also Jim Gordon's story, then how about his daughter? Will she be involved also? So, in this interview Tynion reveals everything about his plan for Babs, Batman, Batfamily, and more in 2021. After a year of bland Babs story in 'Batgirl' & 'Three Jokers', finally I will get a great Babs story again since Birds of Prey in Post-Crisis. Babs was also confirmed as Batgirl in Tom Taylor's Nightwing run yesterday. So, I will be excited to see how DC balance her two personas. "A Conflict Between Best Friends" You know that one of the things that I love from Babs is when it comes to her duty to save people, especially as the leader of BoP, she can be really firm. It can be seen with her conversation with Dinah in these issues. After Dinah got several injuries when she did her mission, Babs promotes her as her partner in Clock Tower to be the 2nd commander and helps her job as Oracle. The reason is she can't risk her after she was nearly killed in that mission. As the leader, Babs doesn't want to risk Dinah by letting her compassion overrules her caution. But, we all know that Dinah isn't that kind of person who likes to sit in the HQ for a long time. So, she rejects it. Then, she fires her & they have a little clash. We can see the different trait between Babs & Dinah, especially when Dinah has to sit on a wheelchair because of her injuries. Their conversation really reflects it. Babs' responsible leads to her decision for Dinah in this team & her inner conflict to put her friendship with Dinah in risk in case Dinah is hurted by her decision. After that, Dinah seeks a training from some heroes & decides to help Helena herself. She fills Babs' position as Oracle & also fights the villains on the field. She wants to show Babs that she still can have her trust as a field agent for their mission. Meanwhile, Babs decides to have lunch in a restaurant alone. She meets Renee, a girl with developmental disability there (which I have posted on my story). We can see that the relationship between Renee & her mom relates to Babs & Dinah relationship. Maybe, Babs can't 'control' Dinah, but Dinah is one of the people that really important in her life. She can't lose her. I always think that Gail is the best writer to write their relationship. Her love for both characters leads her to understand their personalities so her writing is really impactful for me as a Babs lover.
