Yesterday, the female singer posted a dance practice video to her title song ‘ Even So ‘ from her current comeback ‘ What’s Your color? : Apricot ‘.  Today, on April Fools’ day, the soloist released another track called ‘ Wait for it ‘.

Sophie is currently promoting her third solo album, ‘ What’s your color? : Apricot ‘. Despite busy schedules and many TV appearances to promote her current comeback, the female soloist managed to update her YouTube channel with another choreography.

The promoted title song ' Even So ' is a soft pop song with emotional and rather sad lyrics, but it’s paired with a playful choreography and smiles throughout both, the dance practice and performances. According to Sophie, she wanted to catch the ‘ beauty of sadness ’. “ Of course no one likes being sad, it’s exhausting. But that’s why the choreography to this piece is so light and playful. There is something beautiful about being able to feel these emotions and still be able to rise, to become better and not give up, regardless of hard everything is and how heavy the world seems to be. It’s okay to feel negative emotions, as long as you don’t forget that those don’t define you. Like the lyrics say, ‘ I hope that broken clock over there too, I hope it doesn’t stop. I hope it tries to get better like me.’ “

The soloist paired up with GOT7′s leader, JB, for the dance practice. The duo radiates a great chemistry and both, Sophie’s as well as Jaebum’s fans seem to approve of the two idols’ friednship. Fans have also noticed Kim Minhee in the practice video, a dancer who has been featuring in frequent performances of Sophie. It’s being speculated that she is now officially part of Sophie’s crew as a background dancers.

Former girlgroup member Sophie releases her third mini album ‘ What’s your color? : Apricot ‘ , which is the first mini album released by her new company, Starcast Entertainment, . The comeback is part of a project called ‘ What’s your color? ‘, a project supposed to showcase the soloist’s personal colors that are shining through her participation in the albums’ music videos, concepts and song lyrics as well as compositions, including the title tracks.

‘ : Apricot ‘ is reflecting the singer’s emotional side. It has been shown to the public before through Sophie’s personally written and released songs in which she tries to inspire people. With calm beats and meaningful lyrics, the songs of this album are supposed to convey Sophie’s feelings, both positive and negative, to the public.  “ I want people listen to this album and think: ‘ I can relate to this and I’m not alone. Whatever it is, I can get through this. ‘  This is what the soft color apricot, which is similar to orange, represents. SOPHIE SHARES INFORMATION ON HER SOLO COMEBACK THROUGH A V-LIVE

On March 20th, Sophie's last teaser images for her comeback " What's your color ? : Apricot " got released. The idol used the opportunity to share some information regarding the concept, her participation in the album and more with her viewers through a V-Live session.

In the 20 minutes long video, Sophie was enjoying a meal while answering many, frequently asked questions regarding the female singer's future plans, especially her upcoming solo comeback and its name.

Sophie explained the concept of " What's your color ? : Apricot " in the V-Live: " This album has a very weird name. Not in the sense that the words or meaning are weird, but there is a color included in the title. Many fans have guessed from the context that this album is supposed to showcase my color, which is true, but it's not all there is. As soon as I signed a contract with Starcast Entertainment, I decided that I want to have more of a saying when it comes to my music and so far the company did a great job in supporting me and my decisions. This comeback is actually part of an idea that the CEO and I got while we were discussing my future with the company.

It is true that ' : Apricot ' will be a color that represents me and my personal color, but this is certainly not all there is ! Apricot is part of a... project, I would say? This project's name is " What's your color ? ", and will show my audience more than just one side of Sophie. It will consist of three comebacks in total, one of those being ‘ : Apricot ‘. I particpated in the making of ' : Apricot ‘ and I'm planning on doing so on the other albums as well because I want every album to have my signature. To me, my career isn't about performing a song anymore, I want to show the world who I really am and share something I have created. I want my fans to be proud of me because of the hard work I'm putting into my music, not for performing any song. Not that that's wrong though, I've been performing songs given to me by the company for a long time now and it doesn't make someone any less talented. I just want to reach out and try new things and give my music a very personal touch to connect to my audience.

My color has been orange since my debut in the idol world and I hold the color close to my heart, but now it's time for me share with the world which colors I actually carry and I plan on doing so through this project. Every comeback will be named after a certain color that will represent a side of me, colors that will also represent my fandom and hopefully bring us closer. The first color is apricot, one that is purposefully similar to the color orange. Mellow’s Sophie will always be a part of me and this comeback will not necessarily show the world a new side of me, instead, it’s going to focus on the me people already know, but in a more detailed and personal way. My fans have seen the apricot side of Sophie already through the songs that I have released outside of comebacks. This Sophie, known as Hwang Sophie, paired with Mellow’s Sophie, will be the Sophie that this solo album will represent. THe girl that just wants to inspire people with her music and heal.

One week after the release of Sophie’s digital single “ Yellow Card “, the female singer updated her personal YouTube channel with a dance practice video where she shows off the cute choreography to the catchy song. 

According to Sophie, she wanted to show a new side of her to the public, which is why the usually charismatic and powerful dancer decided to go for a choreography that is more playful and smooth. “ The song’s style is R&B so I decided to use an easier approach on the choreography. This style is known for being smooth, that’s what I wanted to incoperate into my choreo. I wanted it to be different than what most people are used to when they see me dance. I’m mostly dancing stronger styles, but this time I wanted to show that I can do other styles as well. It was a lot of fun and I hope everyone will be excited to see what else I have prepared ! “

After the criticism Sophie had to face due to her contract with Starcast Entertainment, the company releases a digital single aimed at haters who have invaded Sophie’s life with their negative comments. The song lyrics were written by Oh Sehun ( @sehunxbt​ ) and Sophie, using real comments directed at the singer and specifically written for the situation Sophie and the company currently find themselves in, but also many other idols can relate to. The track was produced by none other than Chapel Record’s CEO, COLA.

SOPHIE UNDER FIRE FOR SIGNING A CONTRACT WITH STARCAST ENTERTAINMENT AND HOLDING “ A CHRISTMAS TALE “

On December 17, Starcast Entertainment and Sophie confirmed that the former girlgroup member signed a contract with the company and will now be a soloist under the label. They also stated that Sophie will be holding a Christmas concert on December 22, resulting in mixed reactions by the public considering the company’s CEO.

Many people claim that after Mellow’s disbandment, Starcast Entertainment only approached Sophie because, after marrying Oh Sehun, the CEO of the company became her father in law. Sophie is accused of not being talented enough to get into another company with her skills and rather has to rely on personal connections. Additionally to these claims, Sophie was able to hold a Christmas concert only a few days after she signed the contract. Despite the success and good cause of the event, the public is now mostly talking about how it makes the situation look like there is a bias for the now turned soloist within the company considering she was able to be active right after signing. Many netizen also add that Sophie didn’t have to work as hard as other idols in the idol busines for her success. According to older interviews, Sophie’s time as a trainee was only three months long and people criticize that she didn’t have to practice as long to receive the chance of debuting in a group as other trainees. The former triple lead of Mellow also gained popularity for having two solo albums during her time with Mellow, making people believe that because she has been spoiled by her company once, she will now be spoiled again, especially with her husband being the CEO in training.  

Sophie is also under fire for letting Yoda perform at her concert, “ A Christmas Tale “. Netizen claim that she should have considered the ongoing scandal about the male soloist’s sexuality and removed him from the line up, claiming that she must be problematic for putting her new label in this position.

Earlier this week, Sophie stated that she will be holding a Christmas concert under Starcast Entertainment on December 22. The event turned out to be very successful, many idols from different labels participated to raise money for a good cause and seemed to have a great time performing songs to get into the Christmas spirit. Starcast Entertainment donated 1000₩ for every person who streamed the concert on the V-Live app, and all earnings coming from the selling of Sophie’s, during the concert released, single and the concert itself will go to charities as well.

Performing this evening were idols such as Red Velvet’s Seulgi, Creep’s Soo and Naeah,Lovelyz’ Mijoo, Sinistar’s Soleil, Maddy and Ruby from Hex, former Mellow member Yeoreum who performed together with Astrid and Alice, Colouris’ Noel, the female duo Elysian consisting of Astrid and IS and the soloists Haeni , Yoda , who performed despite his ongoing scandal,Georgia, Chaeyeong , Yanyan and Wolfie, as well as the host herself, Sophie. It’s been two weeks since the news about the disbandment of girlgroup Mellow got released and caused restlessness within the fandom. Ever since, the future of the two remaining Mellow members has been unclear but today, on December 20, Sophie confirmed that she has signed a contract with Starcast Entertainment and that she is going to hold a Christmas concert called “ A Christmas Tale “ on December 22. The money earned by the concert will be donated to various charities.

There has been a long silence regarding the leader of the girlgroup Mellow after the news of Sophie’s husband, Oh Sehun, leaving South Korea to work abroad under his father’s name have been released. Many fans got worried and spectulated that the idol would need some time to herself to deal with the difficult situation life has thrown at her. Today, on the 24th of November, Sophie reassured her fans that she is fine by releasing a heartfelt soundcloud track called ‘ Our Circus ‘, produced by none other than Henry Zhao, who worked as Mellow member Jiyoo’s manager before the group’s departure from Mount Records and who is known to be a longtime friend of Sophie.

SOPHIE WRAPS UP HER SOLO PROMOTIONS WITH A SMALL FAN MEET

With Sophie’s turn to promote her solo single ’ Fly Together ’ coming to an end, the leader of the group organized a small fan meeting on the 4th of June to finish up her promotions.

During the fan meeting, Sophie explained the process of song writing and how she came up with the idea and lyrics, as well as the choreo for her song. She shared her experience and also replied to questions from Marshmellows. Next to talking about the group’s future- where Sophie promised that they have a lot of things planned for this year- she also shared some personal facts regarding her married life: “ Things haven’t really changed between us since we got married. I was worried that a marriage would make things more serious between us but thankfully that didn’t happen. We are still acting the same around each other, I don’t spend more time at home and I definitely don’t feel like I am supposed to do more chores at home just because I’m a wife now. Things are going great, despite Sehun being incredibly busy with his father’s company and work aborad. He is a loving husband and tries to call and visit me as often as possible, and so do I. ”. At the question if she has plans regarding her solo career Sophie smiled and stated that she doesn’t plan a solo comeback anytime soon but instead wants to focus on other projects that fans should look forward to. The female singer added that she wants to be more social and create more memories with her fans.

SOPHIE HOLDS A V-LIVE BEFORE HER FINAL STAGE FOR ‘ FLY TOGETHER ‘ PROMOTIONS

On June 3rd, Mellow’s leader Sophie was holding a V-Live before her final stage to talk to fans. She gave the watchers  a small insight on how idols get their make up done, talked about Mellow, the members’ solo promotions andalso showed two surprise guests in her live stream.

Starting the V-Live with a bright smile on her face, Sophie quickly waved at the camera as people around her were rushing through the room. The singer greeted the audience and explained that she was currently in one of the dressing rooms, preparing for the final stage of her solo song from Mellow's 4th mini album ' HELLA! '. Sitting on a couch, the idol started off by talking about Mellow’s past schedules and her members’ performances.

" Did you guys like the idea of every member having their own time to promote their solo song and bond with you individually? I think it was nice to see everyone prepare and give their best for Marshmellows and so far I’ve been enjoying the time that I could spend with you all. I reall hope you enjoyed Rylee's and Emi's performances, I certainly did ! I believe that they did exceptionally well considering that they didn't have any solo experience before, I feel like a proud mother that watches her children grow. Both songs are amazing and to think that they both worked very hard on making them... It really blows my mind. Rylee and Emi both just debuted, but they’re already participated in songwriting. That’s amazing. " Sophie stopped for a second as she heard a familiar tune in the background, smiling as she moved her head to the beat and sang a small part of the song. " Did you listen to Wolfie's ' The Red Shoes ' yet? It's such a good song, I've been listening to it a lot lately because it makes my mood go up every time I hear the melody. Sometimes it's hard to sit still for such a long time but it's worth it because Marshmellows always talk about how pretty we look on stage ! After her make up and hair was done, Sophie got up and walked back towards the small couch in the room where she showed the audience her husband, who was leaning over a table and studying papers. Sitting down next to the male she held the camera in a way that would capture them both. " Look who's with me ! Sehun is supposed to be abroad for work, but since he wanted to support me he came over for today's stage. He's working right now because he has to get as much stuff done as possible, but isn't he precious? I really am the luckiest girl on this planet. " Sehun smiled at the female’s words and the pat of his head that followed, but didn’t didn't move nor averted his eyes from the papers. Sophie turned the camera away from the male so it wouldn’t bother him anymore and Sehun’s arms wrapped around the female, an action caught by the camera. On June 1st, Mellow’s leader Sophie was seen in a hongdae, holding a surprise Busking Event. The idol’s street performance was part of the Mellow Solo Project where each member promotes their respective solo for the time of a week.

A few hours before the event started, Sophie used Mellow’s official Twitter account to post information about it. Tweeting the words: “ [#소시] Hello Marshmellows ! The company and I managed to organize a Busking Event for today.  I wanted to surprise you with something personal and that's what we came up with. I hope I'll see many of you today and get the chance to strenghten our bond. See you soon ! ” she also added the location and time of the event to the tweet, inviting Marshmellows to come and spend some time with her.

Mellow’s Sophie added a new video on her personal as well as Mellow’s official YouTube channel on June 1st. The idol uploaded a filmed dance practice to her song ‘ Fly Together ‘ which is part of Mellow’s Solo Project. She explained in the description box that she worked on the choreo to the song and therefore wanted to share it with fans.

Two months ago, Mount Records’ girlgroup Mellow released their mini album ‘ Hella! ‘, which contained four solo songs that the members helped to create. Each girl worked on their own single and has now a week scheduled with promotions and performances to promote their song, as well as interact with their fans. The Mellow Solo Project started on April 29th with member Rylee and her song ‘ Come to me ‘, featuring Kyo and Mellow’s maknae Emi followed straght after with her song ‘ Wandering heart ‘. Since May 26th it’s Sophie’s turn to promote her single which is named ‘ Fly Together ‘, to which the leader uploaded a dance practice video to spoil MArshmellows with more than just performances and fan meets !
