Sometimes witchcraft is instinctive
Ever since I started my witchy journey I’ve seen lists upon lists of spells, ingredients and pages of step-by-step instructions on how to perform various spells…
But witchcraft can be more than that.
I woke up this morning and knew that something about today was different. Everything felt settled, calm and easy… I looked out my window at the mist in the valley and said “I want it to rain today” 5 minutes later I could hear the pitter-patter of rain on the tin roof.
When I went downstairs for breakfast I bypassed the kitchen and walked to the herb garden. Grabbing a handful of parsley and another of thyme, I didn’t know what I was making but I knew I needed them.
Already washed by the rain, I chopped the herbs and dumped them in a bowl. Into the bowl went an egg and a dash of milk. Salt, pepper and a dash of allspice soon followed. Outside the kitchen window the rain grew heavier and the smell of damp earth floated in.
Smiling at the weather, I walked to the stove, pulled out a pan and flicked the gas. The blue flames leapt from their hearth and licked the bottom of the pan. Fire to cook the food but also to charge it - inner strength, energy and health. Into the pan went the mixture and the smell of the fresh herbs slowly filled the kitchen.
Fresh coffee grounds and a pinch of cinnamon went into the coffee machine. Today would be a good day. Everything was easy… Everything was calm and settled.
When I sat down at the kitchen table to eat, the aromatic food filled me with energy and strength. The coffee was warm and comforting. The food was flavourful and filling.
I’m not really sure why I’m making this post because I certainly didn’t wake up this morning thinking “I’m gonna do so many spells today!” but sometimes witchcraft is instinctive… You don’t really know why you’re doing something but you know it’s what you need to do…
Prepping for a spell
It is crucial (if you want to have good results) to prep before spellwork. Here are some ways to make sure you reach full magic badassery when doing a spell:
1. Spend time being positive. Thinking positively will get you in the right mindset to perform a ritual. This is especially helpful when doing self love and healing spells. For a large ritual start improving your mood as soon as a week prior to the spell. If you are doing something simple, modify your train of thought an hour or so before you begin casting.
2. Meditate. This is also one way you can achieve method 1. Meditating helps clear the mind of negativity and aids in focusing. Light a candle, silence any technology, turn off the lights, and breathe. With every breath you breathe out envision negativity exiting your body. With the intake of air envision breathing in positivity and universal energy.
3. Get clean. One of the best ways to make sure no negativity makes its way into your spell is to simply take a shower/bath. Not only will you be physically clean and refreshed, but you can use some simple cleansing energy to get rid of anything unwanted. Use a shower scrub (extra points if it has herbs with magical properties !) and scrub away all of the nasty blocking energy all the way from your head to your toes. It helps me to envision the energy leaving my body as black or dark grey liquid pouring down the drain. Next, stand under the water and let it rain down on you. Imagine it as golden liquid light; surrounding you and charging your spirit. If you are in a bath, immerse yourself in the water and do the same.
4. Prepare. Gather all of the supplies you are going to use. Place them in your space and make sure you won’t be bothered. One thing that I also like to do is pick out some witchy/comfortable clothing. Our clothes change the way we feel, so make sure you feel powerful and comfortable. You can also even enchant these beforehand.
5. Don’t doubt! Never doubt your own power. You are the key to your own success! Take a moment and remind yourself that you are a badass magical bitch and you get stuff done.
You are now ready to get out there and perform your ritual! ✨

Sam’s body is a temple, the alter Dean kneels at when things get heavy. Sometimes he speaks like he has better places to be, but he still touches Sam like they don’t have each other’s blood on their hands, like Sam’s body is the only heaven that will take him in. He’s a martyr for lost causes, so he keeps setting himself up to fall down on his knees, because the view is so beautiful from below, his brother’s lips half-parted like he’s looking for the right words to describe how good it feels when he lays his dignity at his feet. They could part seas with their love. It’s a constant battle of vices overpowering virtues, that’s a fact Dean has screamed to any god willing to listen, and he’s tried to seek solace in scripture, but their sins are greater shelter than any steeple. Dean knows. Dad used to say every saint has a past, every sinner has a future, so Dean is lost when he can’t remember life before Sam, or life after Sam, or the spaces in between. Dean says Sam’s name in a voice like a prayer, always whispering so the angels don’t hear. He could spend the rest of his life fighting off Sam’s demons as if he doesn’t have enough on his own. It’s a bad religion, but it’s the only one that listens.

Dear employers, I will have to take the day off today because: ☐ It’s December and the streets are papier-mached with wet bronze leaves and it’s so dark outside that the cars have their headlights on at 3pm ☐ I have recently been through a breakup, or I have been through a breakup at any time in my life really, and I woke up today with the absolute conviction that I will never be loved again ☐ A dog looked at me ☐ I got a text from someone for whom I feel a mix of concern and frustration and recognition and longing that is both more and less than romance ☐ Someone made a joke about dead pets meeting you in heaven ☐ Daylight savings time ☐ I passed a knot of flowers that were so bright they glowed through the dim grey water of the day and when was anything in my life last that luminous? ☐ Girls are too pretty ☐ For the first time I genuinely comprehend that there is not enough time to have all the lives I wanted ☐ I accidentally listened to Leonard Cohen

CREAMY
Creamy Spinach Soup Put 1 chopped onion, 2 peeled garlic cloves, 3 cups water and salt and pepper in a pot over high heat. Boil, cover, lower the heat and simmer until the onion is tender, about 10 minutes. Add 10 ounces chopped spinach and 1/2 cup parsley leaves; cook until the spinach is tender, 2 to 3 minutes. Add 1 cup Greek-style yogurt and purée. Garnish: A spoonful of Greek-style yogurt and chopped parsley.
Squash-and-Ginger Soup Substitute 1 tablespoon minced ginger for the garlic and 4 cups chopped butternut squash for the spinach (it will take longer to soften). Skip the parsley and substitute half-and-half or cream for the yogurt. Garnish: A spoonful of cream.
Curried Cauliflower Soup Substitute 1 tablespoon minced ginger for the garlic, 2 cups cauliflower florets for the spinach (they will take longer to soften), 1 tablespoon curry powder for the parsley and coconut milk for the yogurt. Garnish: Chopped cilantro.
BROTHY
Vegetable Broth With Toast Put 2 chopped carrots, 2 chopped onions, 1 small chopped potato, 2 chopped celery ribs, 2 garlic cloves, 10 sliced mushrooms, 1 cup chopped tomatoes (canned are fine), 10 parsley sprigs, 1/2 ounce dried porcini, 8 cups water and salt and pepper in a pot over high heat. Boil, lower heat and simmer until the vegetables are soft, 30 minutes or longer. Strain and serve over toasted good bread. Garnish: Chopped celery leaves.
Egg Drop Soup Beat 4 eggs. Boil the strained stock, lower the heat so it simmers and add the eggs in a steady stream, stirring constantly until they’re cooked, 1 to 2 minutes. Stir in 1/4 cup chopped scallions, 1 tablespoon soy sauce and 1 tablespoon sesame oil. Skip the bread. Garnish: Chopped scallions.
Rice-and-Pea Soup Boil the strained stock, lower the heat so it simmers and add 3/4 cup white rice. Cook until tender, then add 2 cups fresh or frozen peas; cook for a minute or two. Skip the bread. Garnish: Grated Parmesan
EARTHY
Bean Soup Put 1 1/2 cup dried beans, 1 chopped onion, 2 chopped carrots, 2 chopped celery ribs, 2 bay leaves, 1 tablespoon fresh thyme leaves and 6 cups water in a pot over high heat. Boil, lower the heat, cover and simmer until the beans are soft, at least 1 hour, adding more water if necessary. Season with salt and pepper. Garnish: A drizzle of olive oil.
Chickpea-and-Pasta Soup Substitute chickpeas for the beans and rosemary for the thyme and add 1 cup chopped tomatoes (canned are fine). When the chickpeas are almost tender, add 1/2 cup small pasta. Cook until the pasta and chickpeas are tender, 10 to 15 minutes. Garnish: A few chopped rosemary leaves.
Spicy Black-Bean Soup Use black beans and substitute fresh oregano for the thyme. When the beans are done, add 1 tablespoon chili powder, 1 dried or canned chipotle and the juice of a lime. Garnish: Cilantro and sour cream.
HEARTY
Minestrone Sauté 1 chopped onion, 1 chopped carrot, 1 chopped celery rib and 1 teaspoon minced garlic in 3 tablespoons olive oil for 5 minutes. Add 2 cups cubed potatoes and salt and pepper; cook for 2 minutes. Add 1 cup chopped tomatoes (canned are fine) and 5 cups water. Boil, lower the heat and simmer for 15 minutes. Add 1 cup chopped green beans; simmer for 20 minutes. Garnish: Chopped parsley and grated Parmesan.
Mushroom Soup Substitute 1 1/2 pounds sliced mushrooms (preferably an assortment) for the potatoes; sauté until they brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Substitute ½ cup white wine for the tomatoes, skip the green beans and add a fresh thyme sprig with the water. Garnish: A few thyme leaves.
Tomato-and-Garlic Soup Use 2 tablespoons minced garlic and substitute 2 tablespoons tomato paste for the celery. Skip the potatoes and green beans; use 3 cups tomatoes and 3 cups water. Cook the tomatoes for 10 to 15 minutes. Garnish: Lots of chopped or torn basil
Notes:
All of these recipes serve four, and you’ll want about a 2.5-to-4-quart (medium or large) pot. Most can be cooked for a while — but not so long that the freshness is gone. Most will taste as good or better the next day, so consider making a double batch and refrigerating (or freezing) the leftovers. But never boil a soup after you’ve added dairy to it; instead, reheat gently.
If you want a supersmooth soup (and just about any of these soups can be puréed if you like), use a standing blender — let the soup cool a bit first — which creates a finer purée than an immersion blender does; you might even strain the soup after puréeing it.
Garnishes are all optional, though herbs add a dimension that will be lacking otherwise. If you taste as you’re cooking, you’ll be fine, because there is really nothing to go wrong here.
OMG ALL THE SOUP I LOOOOVE <333
Garlic bread goes good with all the soup. :3

Don't Date a Girl Who Travels...
She’s the one with the messy unkempt hair colored by the sun. Her skin is now far from fair like it once was. Not even sun kissed. It’s burnt with multiple tan lines, wounds and bites here and there. But for every flaw on her skin, she has an interesting story to tell.
Don’t date a girl who travels. She is hard to please. The usual dinner-movie date at the mall will suck the life out of her. Her soul craves for new experiences and adventures. She will be unimpressed with your new car and your expensive watch. She would rather climb a rock or jump out of an airplane than hear you brag about it.
Don’t date a girl who travels because she will bug you to book a flight every time there’s an airline seat sale. She wont party at Republiq. And she will never pay over $100 for Avicii because she knows that one weekend of clubbing is equivalent to one week somewhere far more exciting.
Chances are, she can’t hold a steady job. Or she’s probably daydreaming about quitting. She doesn’t want to keep working her ass off for someone else’s dream. She has her own and is working towards it. She is a freelancer. She makes money from designing, writing, photography or something that requires creativity and imagination. Don’t waste her time complaining about your boring job.
Don’t date a girl who travels. She might have wasted her college degree and switched careers entirely. She is now a dive instructor or a yoga teacher. She’s not sure when the next paycheck is coming. But she doesn’t work like a robot all day, she goes out and takes what life has to offer and challenges you to do the same.
Don’t date a girl who travels for she has chosen a life of uncertainty. She doesn’t have a plan or a permanent address. She goes with the flow and follows her heart. She dances to the beat of her own drum. She doesn’t wear a watch. Her days are ruled by the sun and the moon. When the waves are calling, life stops and she will be oblivious to everything else for a moment. But she has learned that the most important thing in life isn’t surfing.
Don’t date a girl who travels as she tends to speak her mind. She will never try to impress your parents or friends. She knows respect, but isn’t afraid to hold a debate about global issues or social responsibility.
She will never need you. She knows how to pitch a tent and screw her own fins without your help. She cooks well and doesn’t need you to pay for her meals. She is too independent and wont care whether you travel with her or not. She will forget to check in with you when she arrives at her destination. She’s busy living in the present. She talks to strangers. She will meet many interesting, like-minded people from around the world who share her passion and dreams. She will be bored with you.
So never date a girl who travels unless you can keep up with her. And if you unintentionally fall in love with one, don’t you dare keep her. Let her go.
