I think Jax takes his complex feelings on his mother out on Gangle, but tries to justify it to himself through delusions that it's not ACTUALLY abuse, even though it is. Most abusers don't ever think of themselves as abusers, and tend to make up a reality in which their abuse is either not that big a deal or it's somehow warranted.

It so far looks interesting based on the concept art.

Whiskin's design is inspired by a lot of things! These include vintage clown toys, Frisk from Undertale and Mofusand (I LOVE these little silly kitties)

Also inspiration for her backstory (not really related to her design) I had the Opal short by Jack Stauber. Opal was a big inspiration for Whiskin, you can see that by comparing how she lives in such an abusive household, that she created her own world inside her head to escape from reality, like how Whiskin sees the circus as a paradise to escape how cruel her own reality was in real life (and also Opal seems to be mute as well, not talking at all during the short film, possibly due to trauma)

I rarely see characters interacting with Zooble in fan content, which is a shame I really love zooble.

I feel ya! Luckily for you I have thought about how each character interact with Whiskin and their thoughts about her, so let me explain her dynamic with Zooble:

Zooble pity Whiskin, even tho they aren't really a fan of children. They often offers to look after Whiskin in adventures where they feel aren't appropriate, which is just a way to skip adventures on their end lol. Tho when Whiskin began getting close to Jax, she started playing pranks on Zooble by taking their body parts and hiding them around, which is not appreciated by them. It takes a while til she learns about boundaries, but despite that, Zooble doesn't hate her, it's kinda like having a cat with "zoomies" at times - running around and messing with your stuff until they get tired - and deep down, they do care and worry for the little one

Made some tadc oc art since I finished today’s digitaltober early (did it like 6 in the morning for some reason). Whiskin belongs to @lolychichi and she’s the absolute cutest!!!! Right when I was drawing her I saw one of the posts that Whiskin doesn’t like physical touch so I got worried but Loly said it’s okay 👍. However if i were to draw her again I’ll be sure to keep this trait in mind next time.

Whiskin is not her "mother's" child, but rather an affair baby, so in order for her "mother" not to divorce her "father", he agreed to let her raise her the way she wants - mistreatment, slander, physical abuse and neglect - and he couldn't hold her back, not that he cared anyway, he even participated in the abuse.

To make matters worse, she's an autistic child, so all of this abuse made her a selective mute, which just made her ""parents"" isolate her further from the outside world, that made her speech a bit slow for her age. The only moments of happiness she had was watching commercials on TV and petting the neighbor's animals in secret (that includes a bunny and 2 cats).

On the day of her 5th birthday, not being able to take care of her anymore, her mother made her husband choose between being married or being a father, which you can guess which option he chose. So the two of them decided to just... leave her in an abandoned building, like a pet cat the owners decided they didn't want anymore
