Whenever, as they get older, Cabernet would lose her temper and react to Dento with violence, such as hitting him, as a counter-measure to stop her, he quickly learnt to lean in closely and whisper seductively to her, “you know, Cabernet, when you hit me, how to put this… it turns me on”

this would stop the violence, but it was also stop Cabernet’s ability to speak for a few hours, during which her face would be beetroot.

I think a big breakthrough for Cilan is the first time he makes his feelings for Burgundy known to people beyond his close friends and family. He’s not one to mix his personal and professional life, but when Burgundy graduates to the S-Class level and the PCA throws a ball for all the recent graduates, Cilan politely asks her to dance and she frowns at first, but eventually accepts.

As they’re dancing together, Ricard whispers to anyone and everyone who’s willing to listen to him, saying how ridiculous and inappropriate it is for a full-fledged faculty member to be slow-dancing with a recent graduate (despite the two being relatively close in age). Most of the ball-goers roll their eyes and continue on, but some agree with Ricard and whisper apprehensively as well.

But Cilan doesn’t care. He holds Burgundy tightly and his eyes don’t leave hers. He’s beyond proud of the progress she’s made from the time he met her until now, and incredibly grateful for having been thrown in a situation where he was able to turn a rude, vengeful, impatient loudmouth into the mature, intelligent and skilled connaisseuse she is today.

Sure, being that they were both heavily involved in the profession, talk about evaluations and compatibility and statements peppered with colorful adjectives pervaded the household on a daily basis. Still, Cilan and Burgundy were carefully aware never to force their mutual passion on their daughter- despite this, though, Eleanor constantly put pressure on herself to learn everything about being a future connaisseuse, because the thought of being the only child and not following in her parents’ footsteps just gave her so much irrational guilt.
