I plan on making some Parkour videos of just me to show how I have grown and improved since surgery. I was in recovery for 9 months. This is what I can do from September 1st, 2012 to the middle of November 2012. By next month or so, I should have improved more and have different movements on here as well. I am doing this for me. I do it on my own free time. I would love to get some advise and thank you so much for taking the time to see this!

Why don't you ever update this!?
Mostly, I just don't have time. Whenever I do have time, I'm always working on articles for flipyeahparkour.com. I've also started up a new superdupersecret project that'll be really awesome when it's finished, but a major timesink until it is. Plus school, work, general life, etc.
I'll still post things here occasionally, but it's by no means a primary focus of mine, sadly. I will always respect tumblr for what it's done for me. <3
If you want videos and pictures, there's a FYPK Facebook page you should definitely go like.

Picture these scenarios:
Crack. Suddenly, your ankle is in fiery pain. No training allowed while you recover.
Snap. Your knee shouldn’t be making that sound on landing. No training allowed while you recover.
Twist. Guess you won’t be using that shoulder for a few weeks. No training allowed while you recover.
Injuries, sickness, and general life often get in the way of proper training. But that’s no excuse for not getting better. Parkour has a huge mental component – and you don’t need to be physically active to train your mind.
I have an unfortunate amount of experience at waiting for injuries to heal. I’ve spent entirely too much of my parkour career laid up due to injuries – usually from chronic overuse. Therefore, I’ve become quite good at finding ways to get better at parkour while waiting for injuries to heal.
Note: While this was written specifically to deal with parkour, the principles within can apply to any sport or discipline, whether parkour, weightlifting, martial arts, running, swimming or anything else.

So, after asking this question on numerous sites and getting no definitive answer, I have come here. I watched Levi's parkour roll tutorial, and I watched Ryan Doyle on Fight Science. Levi states that the balls of your feet spring you forward into the roll. On Fight Science, Ryan Doyle does a diving front-flip and he lands on the balls of his feet, but his heels touch the ground. I don't know which way is the correct one, since Ryan's roll was backed by scientific proof.
It really depends on the person and the shoes they're wearing, but no, your heels should not touch the ground. Your roll will be slightly different in every shoe and every person's roll is different, so go with what's comfortable for you.
sorry if you've been asked this loads before, but i watched your showreel video and you're absolutely amazing, so i was wondering, how long have you been doing parkour, and have you ever had any serious injuries?:-) x

I have left and right splits, a cartwheel, and a front walkover, but no aerial. Do you think I would be able to do a helicoptero if I practiced? Or do I need an aerial to be able to do it?
If you have a decent amount of upper body strength to hold you off the ground and a strong, clean cartwheel, you can absolutely do it if you train hard.
Since tumblr was both curious and happy about my helicoptero, I made a video of it for you.
