A God Without Memories

Perhaps it was the first time. The first time his intuition was failing him. Whatever he was seeing, cold sweat dripping down his spine, was irrelevant. Or was it? It wasn’t that usual that he felt such a strong prescience from the Crawling Chaos latched onto a person. If that was what was happening, the inexplicable contained within parameters to be measured and appraised by mortals. It was almost too surreal, but then again, with the Elder Gods, nothing was. Granted, the Paleontologist was to investigate any leads, and no matter the horrors contained, he’d unearth any truth she might have to clear this matter.

Reaching into the pocket of his trench coat,he’d pull out a case of cigarettes and he’d light one. Holding it between invisible lips, huffs of smoke poked under the fedora. His voice was one of prejudgement yet tense inquisition.

“Alright, lets start by the basic, your name, age, profession, miss?” he closed the cigarette case, ignoring her own question, as he pulled out a pen and notepad and started scribbling.

"Ah. Miriam. Just Miriam. 25 years of age. I don't work. Not right now anyway." She slowly moved her shoulders in uncertainty. She isn't sure how to explain her living position to a detective without it sounding like she is stealing money (which she DOESN'T do!). She thinks for a few more seconds before smiling a bit, yet again. The man didn't seem like he had any weird intentions in mind. Maybe she'll help to solve a crime or something?

“ Huh? ”

Luca was staring back, raising an eyebrow, amused if not utterly confused over the girl before him. Usually he was one to lean in so close, so curious but she had certainly made the first move. How forward. Not that it bothered the demon all that much, but it certainly was strange for a human. What was this particular feeling he was getting. Not to mention, mortals usually did not appear out of nowhere. And Luca was very, very perceptive. “ Can I help you? ” He spoke smoothly, until she would finally speak up. Blinking, he tilted his head to the side, humming thoughtfully. He had met a lot of people in his lifetime, he hardly remembered any of them, were they not interesting enough. Quite a few memories lied dormant. Perhaps there was something familiar about her. After all, this eeriee feeling he was getting… He’d felt it before. It pique his curiousity.

“ Why, I’m certain you have, sweetheart! I’m rather popular you know, maybe you saw me in the billboards? Gorgeous, I am aware, ” he’d grin wider in his jest, leaning his head into his hand as he reached his other to gently poke her nose. “ You know, a picture would last you longer darling, I’m not too opposed to it… No need to by shy now, hm? ♡ ~ ”

She looked at the other with her facial expression slowly morphing from a surprise into an amused, relaxed smile. She liked this one. She had no idea why but she liked him. Maybe it was the bias from her strange non-existent memories showing? She did, however, register that he wanted to, perhaps, take a picture with her. She had a feeling he was curious. Although she might be wrong, yet again. A few moments later she would simply nod. Why not. A picture would be very welcome!

"I am not sure where I saw you..exactly...but I am sure a picture would do just fine. I like pictures, after all!" Her voice was the first thing that suddenly switched places. But she was almost in the other's face, standing barely half a feet away. No certain process of teleportation happened. It's as if she ceased to exist in one place and just started existing in the other. Ine blink of an eye, one slight twitch of the eye-sigh. It was all it took for her to move. She smiled, still. No sigh of malice in her deep eyes filled with ancient purple fog. The stars shining in the back, deep into her eyes.
