For a school assignment :A fashion focused shoot - Shot digitally

These were taken in Bruxelles, I made sure to keep a soft color palet to make the pink pants stand out more. I kept the background very simple to keep focus on the clothes.

For advertising use : I shot for the launch of a streetwear brand's new T-Shirt - Shot digitally

The brand thats named Tranquille is a skate wear brand based in Ostend, Belgium . Because Ostend is a city located by the coast I immediately knew i wanted to pictures to be made in a beach setting. I also incorporated the use of seaside as a visual link to the brand’s location.

The pictures were made on the same day in the same setting as the pictures that were taking as advertising for the brand Tranquille

These pictures were taken to praktisch my photography skills. They're all taken in my room with the use of daylight.

For a school assignment : Capturing a portrait of an animal with its owner - Shot on film

I wanted to take a more editorial take on this assignment. Not just capturing the asked for portrait. For me the color palet had to be interesting and the poses had to be eye catching but not overwhelming.

For portfolio use for a starting model : Growing and starting a aspiring model her portfolio - Shot digitally

A girl I know from school contacted me during my high school years to ask if I we can do a shoot to begin and start up her portfolio to use to model. I kept the color palet very soft so it wouldn't take any attention away from her. Same goes for the styling and background. I wanted the casting agents to see the beautiful look she gives with her eyes.

These posters were designed as part of a high school assignment. We had to design some posters for an orginsed night to visit multaple museum's.

One of the few guidelines for this assignment was that I highlighted some of the art displayed at the event.

Magazine:

The magazine I designed to presents my thesis, my creative process, inspiration and features my photography work. Mostly focusing on my approach on typographic text layout and page design.

Focus: Page Lay - Out

These are some of the pages of my thesis, I kept a very soft color palet and made sure they focus is on the photo's. This was done by keeping the lay out of the text clean and the colours soft. To give it an artsy twist I played with the page numbers in a creative way.

Focus: Photographic Manipulation

Page of my thesis where the previous discussed use of layout is used. The photo shown on the first page is used as inspiration to show my photographic manipulation skills. This was added to the thesis to show another design discipline that I try to master. The right picture is my take on the photographic manipulation technique that was used in the Inspo picture.

Focus: Text Lay - Out

These pages of my thesis are focused on text lay out. This to show another design discipline that I wanted to try out. My goal was to keep the text still readable but I wanted to present it in a creative way.

Logo:

The logo that was designed for way to recognise and gain recognition. It also functions as the face of the brand/ concept I created to highlight and promote my work. sharing its name with the magazine, linking the project’s identity to the publication.  This showcase my approach on logo design

Product Design:

A one of a kind custom made earring I designed and had produced, fully wearable. Created to be featured in the pictures I made to advertise and promote the brand.

Intentionally planned as a shoot to create the pictures I planned to use to advertise and promote my thesis work brand/concept associated with it. Resulted in a serie's of close-up shots focussing on the earring I designed as part of my thesis work.

Alongside the main project I captured additional portrait focused shots. While I maintained the same styling, lighting and location as the main shoot. Using the opportunity to made work to grow my portfolio.

Photo series (created for a client) made to promote the new T-shirt worn by the model.

These pictures weren't produced / shot for the brand and stand alone, Made for portfolio purpose. The pictures were made on the same day in the same setting.

This is recorded on one of the parties the Belgian collective V23 ( V23be on Instagram) iconic trance parties. Heard this set live. No other party has ever topped the trance parties they used to throw and I party a lot!

1. Aurora - Galgo ( Spanish Greyhound) still my dog own her to this day

My baby grew up so fast already turning 4 years old!

Aurora her story begins in Spain.

Where she is born in her family of galgo's. Born with the intention to be used in the cruel hunting world. Being tied to the back of a quad and having to run as fast as possible with a rope around her neck that's attached to the quad that's going full speed. The hunter says it's for " training purpose to get them to get used to ran as fast possible." after a year of being abused and starved she gets dumped in the forest. This by getting tied with a rope around her neck to a big tree. The hunter did this to make sure she would die and not be found.

Thank god that the volunteers of the Belgian organisation named Dogs Behind Bars found her and rescued her. This isn't the end of her cruel story. After a long time of waiting to get adopted she gets what she thought a ticket to her final home.

It didn't take long until the abuse started again after arriving in Belgium. Her new owner likes to participate with her many versions of greyhounds in dog racing contest. Where she gets starved before a running contest so she would run faster. Also where she would be forced to be in a very tight space when she's filled with anxiety and just wants to escape this scary place and moment.

She gets overwhelmed with anxiety and starts to misbehave towards the other dogs. What she doesn't know is that this behaviour made her find her way to her forever and loved home. After misbehaving this much the lady puts her back up for adoption. So the organisation posted her back on their Instagram

That's where mv storv beains. I alread had mv Doberman and I was looking for a friend for her. I've always loved unique looking dogs because I'm very unique looking myself. So the search begins. There were a few requirements like : the greyhound already having the be in Belgium so we can see if the dog matches with my Doberman. Another thing that I wanted but wasn't too important was that she had to be black. Because just like black cats, black dogs gets the least adopted.

So one day I was scrolling on instagram and saw that DogsOfAntwerp shared a post of Dogs Behind Bars. There she was my perfect dog. Look the thing about me is, my fav drink in the whole world is Pepsi. Not coca cola but Pepsi. What was the black dog that's already in Belgium that I see on the shared post her name ? Guess! Her name was Pepsi. So I took it as a sign that this is fate showing my dream dog, together with my Doberman ofc.

So I stalked the organisation Dogs Behind bars. I texted them, emailed them, instagram dmed them. I even wanted to send them a letter but they replied to my text before I could send the letter. After a few visits to make sure I would be a good new mother for Pepsi. I finally got to the day that I got to meet her. I fell even more in love with her the moment she came into the dog park. She immediately ran up to me and my boyfriend and started playing with my Doberman named Athena. The owner even said " woow she never does that." I quickly decide after seeing how much fun she has playing with Athena. That she's coming home with me.

So l get all the documents and the passport and off we go. I gave her immediately a new name because new start means new name. From that moment on she goes as Aurora. We walk away from the organisation and her previous owner and she didn't look back for one second. She knew she was in good hands.

The first pic is Athena and Aurora already bonding on their first day together. She's been with me and my boyfriend for almost two amazing years and she has grown and opened up so much. Coming from a scared, anxious and broken dog to a social, loving and confident lady.

This was my story of how Aurora made my life better :)

The story behind it is written after the series

I was in my first year of my bachelors in photography. Until I was sent off to the psych ward under obligation. Bc I was in a psychoses for 3 days and I didn’t know. I didn’t know something was “ wrong “ with me for the whole 19 years I’ve lived then. I’ve always been a very sad, very anxious and scared person but I never thought something weird of it. So there I am with only my camera and my phone ( I was gonna take some picture after therapy but then I got sent to the hospital)

They told me I was gonna stay a while but I still have school duties so under agreement of my teachers I could bend some assignments to what I can do. The problem was I wasn’t allowed to take any picture of anyone or outside my room.
