Tonight on Wander over Yonder
Growing up on a steady diet of Looney Tunes I would start every Saturday morning with this theme song blasting from my TV….
Overture, curtains, lights,
This is it, the night of nights
No more rehearsing and nursing a part
We know every part by heart
Overture, curtains, lights
This is it, you’ll hit the heights
And oh what heights we’ll hit
On with the show this is it
Tonight what heights we’ll hit
On with the show this is it!
Hearing this Bugs Bunny theme always made me feel cartoons were something special to get excited about and man oh man do when have something to get excited about tonight! It is with great pride that the Wander crew and I present…
When we first got the pick up for Wander Season 2 we only knew 3 things for sure… 1.) We had a total of 40 cartoons to make. 2.) We were going to introduce a female villain who was better than Hater, who he was going to fall in love with and 3.) We were going to do a full on musical called MY FAIR HATEY. So this episode has been in the works for a long time!
Back on Season 1 when I first heard Andy’s hotel room iPhone demo for what became the Wander end theme, I thought to myself, man this guy can write catchy tunes! And hoo boy he does not disappoint with this episode, 7 songs in 22 minutes that I guarantee will get instantly stuck in your head!
Considering that we work for Disney we decided to take our inspiration from the classic Disney musicals written by The Sherman Brothers and involve Andy from the very begging of story break. This made all the difference in the world because we able to structure the plot around the songs instead of forcing songs into an already structured story. So a few weeks after the story meeting Andy sent us demos for the songs and we were all blown away. The crew was so inspired by them that they poured everything their work to try and match the caliber of the tunes.
Especially Dave, Eddie, and Justin who did an absolute incredible job providing the visuals and choreography with their boards. Special thanks to Alex for his beautiful Art Direction, The cast for nailing those vocals, and Boulder Media for their brilliant animation! Also thanks to the Disney Music Department for the extra bucks to call in real session players, to play real instruments, in a real studio. It makes a sonic difference that you can really hear!
As I’m sure you can tell, we’re incredibly proud of this episode. We hope you have as much fun watching and listening to it as we had making it!

For those keeping track, this is part 3 of the 4 part Dominator saga that culminates in the final episode of the season.
So without further ado…On with the show this is it!
