-        his title is:      wilting flower desecrates heaven.

-        as per his title,       one his signature abilities is to  wilt any and all plant life at will.       from the largest of trees to the smallest of flowers,       any living plant in his wake is often left thoroughly wilted and dead.       like hua cheng’s butterflies / blood rain,       its his brand !   because of this,     xie lian is often revered / feared as a deity of death by mortals.

-        they are renown for using ruoye and fang xin as well.       the former is infamous for strangling and beheading xie lian’s opponents in mere seconds and takes on a much more hostile personality as opposed to the tame ruoye we see in canon.

-       xie lian dresses almost identically to bai wuxiang      (        to the point of causing confusion between the two    ),       minus the half crying / half laughing mask.        instead,       he wears a perpetually smiling white mask  as silent ode to his last believer  wu ming.    because his face remains concealed at all times,     his true identity remains a mystery to the heavens.

-       in this au  wu ming  never takes the brunt of bai wuxiang’s curse but in spite of this him and xie lian still  lose each other in the wake of yong’an’s destruction.      xie lian entered the kiln immediately following its fall and spent a total of  eight years  inside it;      but once he emerged,       he was still unable to locate wu ming despite his many efforts.

-       bai wuxiang initially led xie lian to mt tonglu and accompanied him thereafter to the kiln,        where he left xie lian to his own devices.      they have not met face to face since,       though the ever present shadow of his white clothed person  never  quite leaves xie lian’s line of vision.   

-       as a newborn devastation,       xie lian’s personality is very volatile just as we see in book four but considerably amplified;       they’re often caught destroying anything that stands in their way and exchanging blows with any heavenly official that they encounters.       they very quickly gains a reputation,       yet  no one knows his true identity as the fallen prince of xian le.       

-       in the centuries after gaining a reputation among the heavenly,     mortal,      and ghost realm alike,       xie lian calms a considerable amount;       by the time of our canon timeline,     he could be considered somewhat of a recluse like he xuan.       he is wholly uninterested in causing an uproar in the heavens and instead tends to forlorn souls he encounters and assists them in gaining enough power to take revenge on whatever it is tethering them to this world thus helping them achieve enough peace to pass on to the afterlife.

-       this is a whole separate au verse from this,       but in some cases xie lian does not in fact “chill” and decides to take revenge on heaven and dismantle it from the inside out.
