I know our season is almost over so I think it’s now or never.
PETITION TO CHANGE THE OFFICIAL SYMBOL OF CANCER FROM A CRAB TO A MERMAID
1. The constellation is basically an upside down Y.
2. Crabs are icky and scary like most arthropods and me no likely.
3. Negative associations with the word cancer — I mean I’m not necessarily arguing we have to change the name but it would definitely establish an opportunity. It’s always weird to overhear someone saying “oh I LOVE Cancer(s)!”
4. We’re the CARDINAL water sign we should have something more mythical and awesome than a crab — mermaid/merman/merpersons are up there with the other humanoid/animal hybrids.
5. Scorpio already has the creepy exoskeleton thing on lock and they’re welcome to it (even though a water sign with a desert creature is still a little sus but that’s y’all’s thing to figure out). Pisces are fishies so I guess if we have to diversify we could make it a whale or porpoise instead of a mermaid. But I think mermaid fits the cancerian metaphors and personality better.
6. Just do it so I’ll shut up about it already!
