Watching this video and him getting more and more disappointed as the episode goes on is chilling me ngl. This is the version of the script that didn't even have the tower scene in it btw, so this is him as a queer actor realising that they gave his character absolutely no closure and a shitty arc where he "realises" that the love of his life was just a crush to get over in a day without anything from said crush to determine if he's fine with that. He's been the *gay consultant* for the show since the beginning and he was so excited to read the script for episode 4 when he had powers, he probably was excited to see where his characters' powers took the character arc but no, they really just gave him nothing in this episode and the fact he was terrified to go up to the Duffers and ask for a little scene change speaks volumes.

i’m so disappointed. i’m upset. the duffers said they’re not trying to upset anyone but then proceed to off henry in the cruelest way possible. they force him to face his trauma, then he’s crying, and they have the AUDACITY to keep forcing the villain narrative. he didn’t want this. why?! why can’t they let him be happy? this isn’t fair. he had his life stolen from him when he was EIGHT. you had the chance to make him happy, and you stole it. why the hell, in what fucking world do i want to see my favorite character, the only one i care about, not only suffer, but get his head chopped off. cruel. disgusting. they couldn’t even make joyce acknowledge that they knew each other. we were so close to getting henry’s backstory, joyce’s play, and it was shut down. and then they decide to not even include patty, the girl who PROVED henry was never evil to begin with. i’m so sick. i’m sobbing. i’m so upset. i hated that scene, it was so painful to watch. it wasn’t supposed to end like this. he was so close, so so so close. they were supposed to go through his memories. had he remembered patty he wouldn’t have died. i can’t even type this my tears are blurring my vision. don’t ever, ever go through the time and money to create a broadway show with this “villain”. then humanize him. make us all root for him to get saved, and then kill him off so brutally. not only that, but torture us with the scenes of him crying and struggling at his trauma. i’m so… oh my god. my whole week is about to be ruined. i shouldn’t have trusted the duffers im so heartbroken. to think that i had some hope they wouldn’t give him such a horrible ending. i don’t want to talk to anyone, im not happy at all, im just so devastated. and disappointed. to make him flayed for longer than he’d been unflayed is so, so awful. he couldn’t fight the mindflayer off. he deserved to. duffers, im disappointed. should’ve never have made the first shadow if you were never going to save him in the first place.

I'd also like to add that in S5E4, when Joyce tried to (in a very futile attempt) protect Will from Vecna after Vecna had spent plenty of time killing every soldier in sight. He tossed Joyce to the side but very specifically did not kill her.
