tvl: it’s crazy cause it’s clearly such a big production with all these music pieces and sets but it’s just not as well written i think, it’s meandering somewhat, and the writers tend to favor a sort of alliterative, assonance-y, pun-y, clever, reference-laden sentence for lestat that becomes slightly tiring; i suppose they are trying to impress that he’s the exhausting brat prince via these jampacked lines. there’s no time to sit in his memories because they’re so quickly intercut, inserted into the present day sometimes in the form of brief flashback shots and sometimes in the form of lestat hallucinating nicki or whatever, which i think is a TV trend most successfully done by a show like fleabag maybe, but i miss being “seduced into the tale”, having long stretches of flashbacks. the great conversion is also not grabbing me. i suppose i like louis’ sections the best because they have a better pace and give the character dynamics time to breathe. i’m happy to see armand because i love him (lol) but his role and motives are currently impenetrable. overall im waiting for an episode to have a large impact on me (i did think the marius scene last episode was good though). im wondering when someone will have sex that is of any consequence because even the gabriella lestat scene seemed like it was retreading the point they’d already made re their dynamic

although i did like the “rashid is armand” reveal, i do miss how i felt when i was watching the show and i thought louis du pointe du lac had a weird relationship with his worshipful nubile employee. i particularly enjoyed when he told daniel how rashid eats honey and pineapple and swims twice in the morning to be perfect for louis. however, i’m very reassured by the fact that i know louis du pointe du lac, and i know that this kind of HR violating relationship is still definitely in character for him, and im sure it is in his past and/or future
