Every bone I mend, every joint I restore, reminds me that healing is not just physical it’s deeply human. Behind every X-ray is someone’s father, mother, child… someone hoping to walk without pain again. I don’t just fix bones I help people stand tall, move forward, and reclaim a part of their life they thought was lost. And that will always be the most humbling part of my work.

Lately I’ve been thinking about names especially old ones. The kinds of names you hear once and they stick with you, not because they’re trendy, but because they’ve been through something. Names like Gertrud, Pilar, Concetta, or Inger. Names that were never about being pretty or clever, just solid and real. Names with roots.

I’ve been looking at names from Denmark, Germany, Italy, Spain… and you can almost feel the culture and the weight behind each one. Anneliese Schneider sounds like she survived a war and still made dinner for six every night. Rosalia Esposito might’ve had a loud kitchen and softer hands than you'd expect. Carmen García, she probably said exactly what she thought and still got invited back to the table.

These aren’t just names. They feel like stories waiting to be remembered. Like women who’ve lived full lives but whose names are slowly vanishing from baby books and social feeds.

There’s something grounding about remembering them. Maybe it’s a small way of honoring the people who came before us. Or maybe I’m just drawn to anything that isn’t trying so hard to be new.
