3 Best Precautions When Traveling in your Car
Thereâs no doubt that COVID shifted many of our lives. Living rooms doubled as offices and even classrooms as some of us share work spaces with our children. While we practice social distancing and quarantine in the safety of our homes, our essential workers continue to perform their usual duties in the midst of the pandemic. They are truly our heroes who not only save lives, but make sure we get everything we need from the comfort of our home. With an increased number of cases, healthcare workers, grocery store clerks, delivery drivers, and others risk their lives on the frontlines everyday.Â
For those of us that arenât required to work on the frontlines, we can still do our part to help slow the spread of COVID and to better protect ourselves, our loved ones, and our communities. Here are 3 simple tips that you can do to stay safe.
1. Disinfect belongings after going outdoors. Thoroughly wash hands with soap and water for, you guessed it, at least 20 seconds. But this isnât the only precaution to take to further the risk of infection. Did you use any of the following?
Credit card?
Carry your phone?Â
Keys?
Handbag?Â
The CDC recommends disinfecting any items that you constantly handle as well as âhigh-touchâ areas in both your home and in your car. If possible, take the extra step to clean items before disinfecting.Â
2. Donât forget to take care of yourself, too. We can get so caught up in COVID cleaning craziness to keep our families safe that we forget to take care of the most important thing--you! Staying healthy is just as important as properly disinfecting. Take a breather and take some time for much-needed self care by staying active, incorporating more fresh and whole foods into your diet, and doing activities that perk up your mood. Whether itâs gardening, reading, or simply going for a scenic drive with your favorite music in the background, de-stressing will do so much for your mental and physical health. Check out what some of our favorite nurses are doing to stay happy and healthy. Find Nurse Sarah fitting in home workouts and creating fun Tik-Toks, while Nurse Barbara strives to inspire our future nurses.
3. Donât skimp on car care. Whether you still drive everyday to work or strictly for essential outings, we tend to forget that your car needs to be sanitized too, especially after visiting the gas station or hauling goods from the grocery store. Donât forget the germs your shoes trekk in. Not sure where to start? Here are some deep cleaning car tips to help get you started. For added commuting convenience, keep a handy kit, such as our Disinfectant Bundle (reusable mask included!) in your car for easy access to disinfecting after every errand. Fullscale is a great way to stay stocked up by joining as a member.
A few extra steps and precautions into our daily lives will go such a long way. Remember, weâre all in this together. Letâs help each other out and support our community and essential workers. Here at Fullscale Box, we want to thank all of our essential workers for everything you do. As a token of our appreciation, weâre offering 25% off [USE CODE: ESSENTIAL] to all essential workers. A huge thank you to @feedhernurses for donating meals to our hard working heroes while they work tirelessly throughout their shifts to battle COVID19. Please check out their website and letâs help them reach their goal!Â
7 things nobody told you about taking a trip with your dog
Are you feeling cooped up and have been itching to just get away? With the majority of our time now being spent at home, even just to experience a change of scenery for a short time, is more prevalent than ever.Â
Sure, traveling by airplane is still an option, but not only are there added restrictions, safety precautions, and health risks, not everyone is fully on board (no pun intended) with this means of travel just yet. This is why road trips have been a more popular vacation option for many. Whether itâs a short day trip to the beach to, or an overnight camping adventure in the mountains, the best part about hitting the open road or experiencing anything that has to do with being outdoors is that your beloved dog can tag along with you! However, bringing your pet on a road trip isnât always an easy task and some preparation is needed. You both want to have an enjoyable time after all. Here are 7 tips to make sure you, and your car, are prepared for a scenic getaway with your pet.Â
1. Prepare your car for a pet-friendly road trip. You can probably expect to bring a bit of dirt, dog hair flying when you turn on the a/c, mud, and more of natureâs elements inside your vehicle. Use weatherproof car mats in place of your regular car mats for easy cleanup. Donât forget a comfortable seat cover for added protection and for your pet to snooze on during the trip. Now, you and your furry BFF are ready. But is your car fully prepped?
2. Stay well-equipped. Aside from plenty of food and water, make sure to check in with your petâs vet ahead of time and bring any necessary medications your furry friend may need. Consider an all-in-one Dog Care Essentials kit, which includes waste bags, wipes, a collapsible bowl for easy storage, and even a toy for extra playtime at rest stops. These are some of our favorite ways to have an stress-free road trip.
3. Plan your route and take plenty of stops as needed. If you need a bathroom break and a snack break, so will your pet! Avoid accidents in your car (and unsafe distractions) and expect several stops for gas, snacks, and of course to stretch your legs and let out some of your petâs energy. It helps to do some research ahead of time and map out additional pet friendly stops along your route. While youâre taking a break, take this time to touch up your car, too. Need to clean up a few snack spills from either you or your pet? No problem! A convenient on-the-go disinfectant kit is the perfect road trip companion for quick clean ups.
4. Dog and family? All together-now!? Road tripping with the dog and family can be done. It goes a long way when you can anticipate the needs of your dog by also ensuring you have essential needs for the trip. If spills and accidents canât be avoided packing things like extra water bottles, paper towels are always a good thing to keep stored in the door pockets. Lastly, itâs always helpful to keep a tablet handy for entertainment and for when the conversations start to get bland in the car.
5. Donât forget the snacks! Be sure to carry snacks for you and your pooch. Try using zip-lock bags and stuff them with a few treats for your pup. Granola bars and trail-mix can also help us humans stay well fed and maybe even skip a stop and get to your final destination quicker. While waiting times at local restaurants and delis can be a drag, nobody likes to be hangry. Carrying a variety of snack packs or stuffing a few into your glove box can be a great way to wait for your turn at an outdoor dining restaurant.
6. Dog with car anxiety? No worries â Bring along a dog tie-down anchor to give you a much needed break from holding the leash while making stops along the coast or near desert. Using a tie-down a couple of times a day allows your dog to learn that though you go away, you always return and that he canât attach himself to you.
7. Keep it comfy â Bring a dog bed to help provide comfort for the ride. This and a dog seat belt can help ensure the dog doesnât have any happy moments and wants to crawl over to the driver side.
Thatâs it â Itâs a wrap! After the trip, by now you should have a hand vacuum thatâll help with some of the clean up in the vehicle and tidy up some of the mess made along the way. Now that preparation is complete for both you and your pet, hit the highway and enjoy the ride!Â

7 Ways to Beat Quarantine Stress in your Car
Being in quarantine doesn't have to be so painful. The COVID 19 pandemic has definitely thrown us all off track.Â
HERE are a few simple ways you can beat the stress that might come about from the pandemic and social distancing.
1. Go for a scenic drive. Thereâs something about driving near the beach, or an area full of nice trees. Given the reduction in daily commuters on the road it's a good time to drive and absorb the views of the palm tree filled skies or ocean breeze, if youâre near the coast. Â 2. Do a contactless drive-through car wash. One, itâs probably been a while since youâve last washed your car on the outside and two, itâs a good time to just use it as a means to have some white noise play from the machines during the car wash. By now a few car care products would be helpful to store in your car. One is a hand sanitizer and another is disinfectant wipes. We also offer additional car detailing products. If you sign up for FullscaleBox we have a 10% off discount code you can use. (Promo code: G4KAGBBKEP5R)
3. Drive-through Starbucks, Dunkinâ Donuts, or support your favorite local coffee place. Studies have found that the present times have called for a lot of comfort eating to de-stress. Perhaps you need that coffee/tea and a pastry. Sometimes indulging in this all by yourself, in your car can add some much-needed peace, time to yourself and clears your mind from the things being done at home. 4. Send photos to print at your local pharmacy and pick up via drive-through. Most pharmacies offer to pick up options beyond the usual pharmacy items and photos can be sent from a mobile app. Most of us never have time to print our family photos or photos taken on our mobile phones. Chances are you can now bring something exciting back home and even build a physical photo album together with family and friends. 5. Meditate in your car. Sometimes we find that the only peaceful quiet place we have is our car. Our home has our spouse, children, roommates, in-laws, chores to be done, and etc. Get into your car, park in a quiet place; could even be your driveway or garage and throw on your favorite YouTube show - ours is Rich Rebuilds. 6.  Drive and park at a local church or near the parking lot. If youâre a spiritual person, this is an interesting way to beat the quarantine fatigue and stress of being indoors so much. If youâre not big on religion than maybe another option is driving to a park. If you have a sunroof - open it up and turn off the radio and listen to the bird's chirp. 7. Drive to catch up on podcasts and listen to music. Studies have shown that music can do so much curing to our mental state. Perhaps listening to your favorite podcast or playlist can ease your mind and beat the quarantine stress.

Letâs find out how...
1. Clean engine and engine compartment
Most people donât think of cleaning the engine and its compartment but donât be afraid to go under the hood. Thanks to improved technology, engine components are well protected. First, make sure the engine is cold. You may want to cover the air intake, alternator, and any other exposed filters with a plastic bag. If youâre unsure of what these parts are or simply arenât confident, stop here and leave this area to be professionally cleaned.
Otherwise, the next step is to use a spray-on degreasing product specifically designed to clean engines, and follow the instructions. Lastly, use towels and brushes to hand wipe leftover dirty spots to really give the engine and compartment a good cleaning. Â
2. Use a clay bar
Our cars are constantly exposed to pollutants that stick to the paintâs surface. If it isnât cleaned off, they can end up damaging your carâs paint and finish. Sometimes, a simple and quick car wash wonât do the trick. Instead, use a clay bar and clay bar lubricant to remove stubborn pollutants stuck to the surface. The final step is to use a wax or sealant to keep the surface smooth and clean.
3. Clean interior in detail
This part may feel a lot more like your house chores, but a carâs extra clean exterior deserves and equally tidy interior. Shake the floor mats, give the carpet and seats a vacuum, and maybe even use an upholstery cleaner. Use compressed air to tackle hard-to-reach dirt and debris in tiny crevices. Use tiny brushes and cotton swabs to clean and sanitize air vents, dashboard controls, and other small areas. Donât forget to reach between the seats, center console, and glove compartment!
4. Eliminate problem smells
Sometimes, Febreze wonât always do the trick. With constant kid spills, or your morning coffee accident, periodic shampooing and vacuuming is a must. This will help prevent and remove offensive odors inside. Unfortunately with stubborn smells, such as pets, mildew, or cigarette smoke, a professional detailing will be needed.
5. Clean and protect wheels and tires
Brake dust can deter a wheelâs condition over time. Clean this by spraying cold wheels with a strong stream of water to remove dirt and debris. Spray a non-acidic wheel cleaner liberally on the wheel, and while itâs still wet, use a soft brush to remove dirt and brake dust. Donât forget to clean around the lug nuts. Rinse and dry the wheels to prevent water spots and follow up with a metal polish and a way to really make them shine. Lastly, clean wheel wells, and use a silicone free tire dressing.
6. Restore headlights
Dim headlights at night are a safety hazard. Revive your clouded and oxidized headlights with an inexpensive restoration kit like this one HERE. Theyâre easy to clean and will make a huge difference both with function and aesthetics.
7. Deep clean the glass
Deep cleaning your windows will provide the perfect finishing touches to your car will look brand new! Make sure this is your final step so you avoid overspray from other liquids. First, clean contaminants from the glass with a clay bar. Then, use an ammonia-free liquid glass cleaner and a microfiber towel. Try working in the garage or shade so it doesnât evaporate too quickly. Glass cleaner also works on your wiper blades to help improve their water removal.
