“c’mooonnn baby,” he groaned, trailing after your pacing figure. “one more chance. just one more.”

you quickly swiveled your body around, making shidou abruptly halt in a way that he almost tripped over himself. you kept your arms crossed and your brows tensed. did shidou not know how to read the room? you two were at a park. people were walking their dogs.

okay, sure, it was the late evening, so there weren’t too many passerbys, but shidou was still very much making a fool of himself.

“you’re an imbecile,” you said flatly.

shidou shrugged, a daring smile creeping on his lips. “for you.”

“or for sae?”

shidou gasped, his eyes widening wildly. “what! for sae? nuh-uh!”

you rolled your eyes, turning back around and beginning to step away. to your dismay, you heard shidou padding loosely behind.

“stop following me,” you told him, not wavering your brisk pace.

“not until you take me back,” he replied quickly. god. from the tone of his voice you knew he was grinning ear to ear while saying it.

so you looked over your shoulder, confirming your suspicion. “you’re disloyal.”

“if anything i’d be disloyal to sae,” he defended. “you’re the one i’m loyal to.”

you stopped again, with shidou stopping too — more ready for it this time.

“you’re not good at apologies,” you commented.

he chuckled. “i’m good at other things.”

you raised an eyebrow. “you know what you’re doing.”

he kissed his teeth, his inviting glare not once leaving you. he leaned slightly closer, “is it working?” he said, gruffly and quiet.

“hm,” you hum, looking up at him. “depends what those other things are.”

“you know what they are,” he purred.

“. . . you’re a tease,” you sigh.

he slowly backed up by a few steps, his eyes sparkling.

but before he could say anything, you spoke again. “how about if you block sae’s number?”

“what?! oh— babe. . . that’s—”

“then bye.” smoothly, you turned on your heel to start walking off again.

“—wait! okay okay! his number is getting blocked right now.” he hurriedly reached into his pocket to grab his phone.

you turned around again, amused with his compliance. a small smile quirked on your lips, and when shidou looked up and saw, his face lit up.

guess shidou might be a little better at apologies than you said.

He’ll say it to his friends, family, complete strangers, really, anyone who’ll listen. He’s got absolutely no shame about it.

In his head, it’s bound to happen anyways, so why not start early?

One morning, you’re out on the outdoor volleyball court, huffing and puffing as you scramble after every one of his impossible hits.

An older woman passing by lets out a little, “Oh!”, as she smiles at the blonde, “That’s a lot of work this early in the morning”, she playfully says.

“Eh”, he immediately shrugs, shootin her a real charming grin, “Whatever the wife wants, right?”

The woman laughs, giving his shoulder a light pat before continuing on her walk.

You freeze for half a second. Heat rushes to your face, stomach doing a stupid little flip.

“Shut up,” you mumble, cheeks warming despite the grin tugging at your lips

He turns back to you, looking entirely too pleased with himself.

Then he smiles, that soft, fond one that always catches you off guard, always melts you just a little.

“Yes, ma’am”
