At the end of the ■■th annual Long Walk, the winner, number 23, Peter Mcvries, fatally wounded The Major.

The crowds soon dispersed. When collecting the bodies, there was one participant unaccounted for.

Ray survives getting shot in the head.

Collie mumbles to himself as he dials the number he was told, his heart in his throat.

Even though Ray picked up the call, he didn’t say anything for a moment — the phone was also the Major’s, and if they heard someone else answering it, well, it wouldn’t end well for Ray.

After the silence stretched on for a while, Ray cautiously mumbled;

Collie chokes out a mix between a laugh and a sob, letting himself breathe.

His voice shakes as he is still laughing(?).

At Collie’s words, he lets out an awkward chuckle.

He sigh deeply.

You stay safe too, Parker.

The pain that flared in his abdomen seemed to completely overwhelm him. It wasn’t a new wound, no. Of course, he was a Garraty — hiding something detrimental until it already causes enough damage.

And, unlike the banned materials he had kept in his room, the bullet in his abdomen from the beginning of the revolt itself caused him real harm.

He leaned on a nearby tree — and seeing that Collie and Pina’s outlines were growing blurrier, fainter, farther and farther away from him, safe —

[The Major hauls Ray's unconscious form up, taking him back into the house. He then fastens cuffs on Ray's wrists, chaining him to the table.]

[Adjusting his sunglasses, he walks over to the phone and dials a number, keeping his eyes fixed on Ray's inert form.]

Wh… where the hell am I…

When he tried to touch the wound that caused him to pass out in the first place — he realized he couldn’t quite move his hands. That’s when the panic set in.

Raymond Davis Garraty, you are under arrest for murder, attempted murder, and assault. Protesting will only make matters worse for you.

He let out shaky gasps as he tried to move his shackled hands, the metal digging into his wrists.

Fuck— fuck, why— why now, why now…
