Problematic because: "she's the usher who most wants to look like she’s doing something noble, which almost makes her worse?? her whole pitch is that her experimental heart mesh could save lives, but the animal trials are failing, the chimpanzees they've been secretly torturing with these medical failures are dying, and she still pushes toward human testing because roderick’s approval and fortunato funding matter too much for her to slow down. she books verna as a human test subject, forges her girlfriend alessandra’s signature, and keeps falsifying the process after alessandra refuses to keep participating. then when alessandra says she’s going to expose the corruption behind the trials, victorine kills her in a panic with a bookend. afterward, instead of calling for help or turning herself in, she straps the heart mesh onto alessandra’s corpse and spends the episode hearing its mechanical heartbeat like her own personal tell-tale heart punishment. she’s brilliant, driven, and clearly wanted to be the usher who helped people, but she still turns her girlfriend, her test subjects, and her medical work into casualties of her need to succeed." "terrifying because she’s the “good usher” only if you don’t look at the lab notes. medical breakthrough girlie with dead chimps, forged consent, a murdered girlfriend, and a heart device ticking away on a corpse. absolutely rancid. great episode." 2. Problematic because: "Kai is basically the loud, obnoxious bully type who would already be exhausting in a normal school, and then he gets dropped into Heavenly Host and somehow still finds time to be an ass. He intimidates classmates, vandalises stuff, brags constantly, treats girls badly, and has this one-sided rivalry with Kizami where he keeps trying to prove he’s better than him even though Kizami barely seems to care. Then in Book of Shadows, when everyone is trapped in the murder school, he’s very ready to abandon the group to save himself, even though one of them is injured. He also threatens Kizami with a knife, sweet-talks Tohko while trying to get her to leave with him, and generally acts like the kind of guy who makes a life-or-death situation worse because his ego can’t shut up for five minutes. He does have tiny flashes of caring more than he admits, but they’re buried under several layers of “dude, please stop talking.”" Propaganda: 1. "He’s awful in such a normal teenage-boy way compared to the actual horror around him. He’s rude, arrogant, selfish, and desperate to be seen as the cool dangerous one, which is especially funny because he exists in the same class as Kizami, who is actually dangerous. I like that he’s mostly a pathetic bully with some weirdly human moments underneath it. He wants people to think there’s more to him, and honestly, there kind of is. It’s just also true that most of what’s on the surface is deeply annoying." 2.
