poor man. “ well then, i guess it’s a good thing i already have a stage career, ” she replied with a raised eyebrow. his attempts were valiant, but they were so pretentious ! “ so has that one ever worked for you ? i’d be happy to workshop it with you if you need some help. ” she continued, genuinely curious, but also in genuine disbelief that him offering a humblebrag then a sad-boy pickup could ever work. people liked what they liked, she couldn’t blame anyone if they fell for it… but, wow, it was somewhat of a bomb in her book.

chase shook his head and frowned as he watched the other male pocked the money. “oh, i am definitely going to have to take a beer break, dude” chase shook his head and ran his hands through his messy hair, a visible sign that he was stressed over the money he had just dropped. “i can think of eighty better ways to spend half a grand” chase laughed at the absurdity of what he had just done with gambling.

“really? well, i think card games are up there in the list of ‘best ways to spend half a grand... ever.’” toby was being a shithead and pulling his leg, obviously, but hey... a not-too-bright reality show star who seemed to already be drunk may not be able to tell. “but you’re right, beer sounds excellent right now.” 

stella definitely was not the type to be swayed by compliments usually, but after a few glasses of champagne she had primed herself for a bit of a different night. as he complimented her, stella took a nice long sip from her champagne flute, “well, i can’t say i disagree with you there” she winked at him. maybe that was her letting him know that she wasn’t creeped out by his slew of compliments. “o k a y, i believe you” stella said begrudgingly, too lazy to look him up on imdb, “so has the imdb acclaimed film director been winning big tonight?” stella asked with a smirk, eager to keep the conversation alive.

sophie nodded her head as the other spoke, a laugh leaving her lips at what seemed to be a poor attempt at flirting but she wasn’t going to tell him that. “well, i’m flattered but i don’t think i’m much of a hollywood person at all or would even be cut out for it.” she told the male who was probably one of the newer neighbors around here or at least she assumed. “so i’m going to assume you moved out here because of the area then? filming the ocean and all that?” she asked, considering his whole big talk of how passionate he was about movies.

stella was just minding her own business on the yacht, glass of champagne in her hand when the stranger started talking to her. she was remotely interested in what he was saying as the game drew to a close. stella raised a brow and turned to him, “and what exactly is so classic about me?” she fished for what would hopefully be a string of compliments. before he could answer, the medical resident sipped from her champagne glass, “second question - how often does this whole thing work for you?” feeling the need to call his pick up line into question.
