Hey guys I just want to give a heads up. The book Adam by Ariel Schrag has been turned into a movie which has been named as one of the most exciting LGBTQ films of this year. I donât want to spoil anybodyâs fun but you should know before watching that the book is about a cis boy who pretends to be a trans man in order to persuade lesbians to sleep with him.Â
This post has a plot summary that explains more about this concept and why itâs so harmful.
It is deeply deeply transphobic. It is lesbophobic as it features a corrective rape narrative (a lesbian does have sex with him and then decides she does love men after all).Â
Here is a review of the book by a trans man. I have yet to find one by a lesbian but will edit this if I do.Â
This book gives out incredibly harmful notions about trans men and lesbians that are used to hurt them in real life. Itâs so entrenched in the narrative that I donât see how the film can be any better. You can find more info in this twitter thread
Iâd like to tell people to boycott it but I canât tell you what to do. So instead Iâm going to ask that you share this because it being named as an exciting new LGBTQ film is going to make LGBTQ teens want to see it. And they should know before hand how hurtful it could be. They should be able to arm themselves with that knowledge.Â
Please reblog.Â
How We Treat Mental Illness Vs. How We Treat Physical Illness
God, seriously.
also, i like these weird character designs.
The art is by @haejinduck!

My headspace
Hi guys, sorry I havebeen quite the last couple of months. Iâm currently not in the right headspace to be very comforting and motivational at the moment. This has nothing to do about my relationship with Luke. In fact he is helping me a lot even though he might not know it.
So this is just me checking in. I hope you are doing great and you can still send me a dm if you would like someone to talk to
Much love
My dear lgbt+ kids,Â
I know dysphoria can feel unbearable and I know that sometimes strangers online are the only one you can ask for advice.Â
Iâm not going to judge anyone for doing so or hand out advice like âOh my gosh, just ask your doctorâ - Iâd love to live in a world where every trans/nonbinary person has easy access to advice by a professional who knows and understands their individual situation but sadly thatâs not reality yet.Â
However, I do want to share some thoughts about dysphoria and/or health related advice you may find online:Â
- If something sounds unsafe, it may be unsafe. Trust your gut. People may (probably even with good intentions!) share advice that can really screw up your health. If something sounds good but the little voice in your head goes âThat sounds painfulâ or âThat just doesnât feel rightâ, listen to the voice.Â
- Double-check. Research. Check out different websites. Tumblr is great but 99,9% of all posts on here are not written by health professionals (and even if someone claims to be an expert, you have no guarantee they are not lying). Do not believe in something just because one blog said so.Â
- The above especially applies when something sounds âtoo good to be trueâ, is written by someone who earns money when you follow their advice (for example, someone who sells things) or sounds unsafe.Â
- If you have a specific health concern (âIâm diagnosed with XY, can I still wear a binder?â and similar), know that most answers youâll get on advice blogs are a mere guess. They donât know your individual health situation and history. This is, sadly, indeed something that only a health professional who knows your unique situation can answer with certainty.Â
- Statements are not necessarily true just because thereâs a source: The source may not be neutral, may be outdated, may have been misinterpreted by the person who wrote the post etc. Donât fall for âThereâs a link that says source, so it must be trueâ, check out the source!Â
- Even if a statement is generally true, it may not apply to you and your individual health situation.Â
I donât want to discourage you from seeking advice online. A lot of tips youâll find on tumblr or elsewhere are indeed helpful (or at least perfectly harmless). Just be careful when it comes to things that could have health consequences, such as taking something that wasnât prescribed by your doctor or binding with something else than a actual binder.Â
With all my love,Â
Your Tumblr MomÂ

Do people change?
How well do we know the people around us? Friends, coworkers and sometimes even family? The truth is we never completely know someone, I doubt we ever fully know ourselves either. People show you what they want you to see. If it be good, bad or ugly. People are master manipulators of what they project to the outside world. And believe it or not, this has nothing to do with someone's sexual orientation or gender identity, we are all just people like the rest. Some people are good and kind and some people are just assholes. @lifewithryan91 I leave you with this. *Some people can be assholes and some assholes can be people* #truth #trust #insight #weallknowanasshole

I love you all so much, happy pride month
Happy Pride Month
Happy Pride month everyone!! Remember to be who you are and to always be proud! I know we all get discriminated against a lot for a lot of different reasons, but remember that we are worth so much more than the lable people slap on us. #pridemonth #proud #ftm #lgbtq
Ten Things the Trans Men in Your life wish You knew By Jason Robert Ballard via FTM Magazine Over my life as a transgender man I have had moments I wish I could have said something to someone close to me but failed to. Until going back in time is an option, lets move forward with better understanding on things we wish we could tell our close friends and potential partners. If youâve received this article from a friend, are they trying to tell you youâre guilty of one of these points? Potentially, or they just think it was a good read and you might enjoy it. 1. Youâre guilty by association You will receive more questions about me than I will. People who are confused or curious will typically ask a person they believe can relate to them or think share similar experiences. Talk to me about what Iâm comfortable with you sharing when you field these questions. If I prefer not to be outed, you could respond with a simple, yet firm âItâs not my place to answer these questions for you, Iâm sorry.â If Iâm open about my transition, find out how to appropriately answer or divert harsh questions. This will make you a better ally and allow conversations to flow toward critical discussions instead of focusing on sexualizing the experience. As the topic of transgender lives emerges in mainstream media, questions often fall into one of two categories âgenuine curiosityâ or âsuperficial curiosityâ. The question, âWhat are some reasons a transman might not have bottom surgeryâ is different from the question âDo you have a penis?â Knowing whether the questioner is coming from a place of good will or being malicious may help you decide how to handle these moments. 2. âBut youâll always be _____ to meâ hurts Transition in life is inevitable. While seeing your little cousin for the first time in years and enjoying the fact that they were once in diapers, one may say âAw, but youâll always be little tommy to me!â and be perfectly acceptable. However, in my case I may have struggled with who I was and how I felt about myself before coming out as the authentic me. This is a time in my life of positive growth and happiness and if Iâve chosen to share it with you, telling me that youâd rather remain seeing me as someone I have taken great risks to leave behind is hurtful and damaging to our friendship. Telling me Iâll always be my birth name or birth sex in your eyes can be like telling someone who struggled with depression that youâll always see them as âthat pathetic emo kidâ or someone who fought with self image and weight lose that theyâll always be âfatâ to you. See what Iâm saying? Yes, we may have a long history of knowing each other before I came out and that might be hard for you to let go of or see differently. Let me know youâre trying by not using this statement. 3. Outing me can be extremely dangerous. As positive as some of the media and support for trans people are, there is still an overwhelming amount of hatred and ignorance. Hundreds of transgender people are murdered every single year and most of these times the killer walks due to failed/no protection laws in place for me. You may think that having a trans friend and talking about it in a public setting is fine, but if the wrong person over hears you or tells their friend who tells their friend, I could be in serious danger. It being a novelty to have a trans friend isnât worth my life. If you want to talk about it, just donât use my name and say youâve âgot a friendâ. 4. My dysphoria isnât your fault It can be tough to be emotionally involved with someone who has a hard time with self image. You yourself may feel like youâre solely responsible for their happiness but sometimes their sadness comes from a place you simply canât touch. It is not your fault that I have places and things about my body that I donât like paid attention to. Talk to me and find out what is okay with me and what you can do to ease any triggering of my dysphoria, but donât take the dysphoria personally. Some relationships, trans or cis donât end up being âtext bookâ. If Iâm uncomfortable with my breasts and talk about wanting surgeries in the future, being sad about that and saying things like âBut I love your boobs!â or âNo donât, I love you just the way you areâ isnât supportive. In fact, itâs proof that youâve created an image of me in your head that doesnât match up with who I really am and thatâs not a positive basis for a relationship. 5. âIt isnât the Tâ Beginning hormone replacement therapy can be a HUGE moment in my life. However, following that achievement I may lash out at you or be a jerk. If I say things like âItâs the testosteroneâ, you have my permission to not believe it. I am well aware of the emotional changes that Iâve decided to undertake and there are countless support systems and advice articles for dealing with extra tension and shorter tempers all over Google. My mood swings and hormonal imbalance are mine to control, not yours to tolerate. I have no right to be rude to you or push you away and blame a substance. 6. How do those egg shells feel? Donât get so hung up on words that the conversations never happen. You know me, if weâve been close for any period of time you know what and how to phrase questions and statements to not be offensive. Though I may not want to be an educator all day every day to strangers at the grocery store, youâre my friend and it shows me you care when youâre excited about my transition with me. Many transgender people donât have or lose their entire support systems when they come out so Iâm lucky to have you. If youâve been around the web a time or two youâll notice our community gets hung up on terms and words. Donât let this frighten you into bailing on me. 7. Donât date me despite me If youâre interested in dating me, make sure youâre interested because of who I am, not despite my trans status. Youâre not doing me a favor by being interested in me âeven thoughâ Iâm trans, youâre making it seem like to you itâs something that makes me hard to handle or below you and THANK GOODNESS youâre here now to be interested in me because who else would? Rude. 8. What you say behind my back is what you really think of me When I first come out, some people might say things like âItâs about timeâ or âI always knewâ, some may say they had no clue and some people might not believe me due to the rise of something called âtrans-trendingâ. Whether you think Iâm doing this for attention or because my friend is doing it too isnât for you to decide. The locals donât get to get together and vote to approve my trans status. There is no way for you to tell what has been going on in my mind for years and what Iâve struggled with personally. There are many ways to transition and no one way is perfect or the way it has to be done. Talk to me about it, find out my story if you feel so inclined. If not, just leave it alone because it doesnât affect your life at all. 9. My pronouns mean a lot to me Chances are Iâve chosen a new name and have preferred gender pronouns, you using them is a big deal to me and when you do it shows me that you support me in bettering my life for myself. Which should be qualities of all friends! At the beginning, you may slip or mess up but I promise Iâll be able to tell if someone is genuinely trying or if someone is making a point to use the wrong ones. 10. Thank you If youâve taken the time to read or share this article with someone close to you, youâve sought out advice on being a better Trans Ally and that to me is admirable. Wanting to educate yourself to make me and any other transgender person in your life more comfortable in this time of great community and media change is worth a big thank you. There is a lot of anger and hatred in the world and in our small community and sometimes Allys can be pushed to their limits or be afraid to use the wrong words or do the wrong thing. Every single person behind us and in support of us is valuable. Thank you for your patience, your friendship and your love.

all my babes of any gender ~ pls know that abusers almost never appear to be abusers at first. Â They are charming and romantic in the beginning. Â They will sweep you off your feet with their kindness and attention. Â This initial impression of a partner can make it very hard to accept that this isnât who they really on later down the road. Â Look at how they act and how you feel on an average day now, not how things were in the beginning. Â Reflect on any patterns that have developed. Â Remember that abuse happens in cycles and black eyes/physical violence arenât the only forms of abuse. Â Relationships should be a place of retreat and comfort, not fear and dysfunction. Â You deserve the best and you are not alone in this. Â Know the signs and donât be ashamed to reach out for support if you ever feel isolated, threatened, or overwhelmed. Â
