He stared at the empty space his book had been, one of his hands clenching slightly in anger– what? He turned his eyes to the girl complaining in front of him; did she not know her place? 

“Is that your way of greeting your prince? You’re already making me want to punch you with your attitude.”

Kaito parroted back to her, in her voice. Who did she think she was? Stupid lowerclass people.

“You just threw my book away,” –even if he had not been reading it – “And just outright insulted me. If you’re sick, I might as well be having my funeral.”

He straightened up in the couch, slinging his leg over the couch arm and to the ground; stretching his arms skywards– then slumping back into the plush chair. His mom dealt with this on a daily basis, anyway. 

He surely pissed her off with his all mighty attitude. Who did he think he was? The king? But she already knew how to change his mind.

“I’m sorry, Prince. But I sadly can’t do that. Your mother kind of bought her. She’s supposed to be your personal maid.”

The old woman wanted to say more, but Aoko interrupted her. “To make it clear. I’m the only maid you’re maybe allowed to order around. The other maids doesn’t have to listen to a single word you’re going to say to them.” She said this in the most sarcastic way ever. It felt good to be the one in control.

She let herself fall beside him, still being a bit pissed. “So, we can do this the easy or the hard way. Listen carefully and don’t you dare to ever talk back to me or I’m going to make you pay for it.”

Kaito puts a hand on his cheek, blinking at her.

“ …. “ He stared at her quietly, cheeks blushing slightly. What was going on in his head was a mystery. “ Aoko, you know….” 

“ I… “ 

“ … “

When the thief saw her ‘casually’ looking around, he couldn’t help but give a small sigh before a faint smile came to his face. Really… he’d told her that he’d be sure to stop by her house after the heists, she didn’t have to come…

After letting her turn her head a minute or so more, he slowly shook his head and walked up from behind, quickly turning to give a light kiss on the cheek before smiling.

“…I’d really only need about ten minutes before the heist to get ready, so I don’t mind if you want to ask now. Most of the actual busywork is already done, it’d just be me getting into place.”

“Well, if it’s like this.” She reached out for his sleeve and pulled him closer. Only a few inches kept his body away from touching hers. Looking up at him in a rather shy way, she got up on her tip-toes and whispered into his ear.
