It's finally task time! This is actually taken from both NZ s2 and UK s14, so I will take moments from both. But before we see the task, let's talk about the setup.
When each contestant enters the lab, they are greeted by 2 plinths. On each plinth is a microwave, and on each microwave is a full jug of milk. Between the 2 plinths, is a task envelope. And before each contestant reaches for the task, Noah says "I wouldn't open that if I were you"
With that out of the way, let's see how this plays out:
Noah, I noticed that you didn't show us the task
Ah, my bad. I warned them not to open it.
So what's on there, you should probably wait to open it?
Yeah, probably... On a totally unrelated note, here's Cody! *Plays clip*
Because you always lie on these. There's always a catch. There's always a trick, and I end up failing miserably. I'm not doing this, I'm opening the task. *takes task*
I would do that if I were you
Well, you aren't me. *opens and looks at task* F*ck.
Within 30 seconds of reading this task, hold the 2 milk jugs directly above the microwaves. If you put down the milk, touch the microwaves, or move the jugs away from directly above the microwaves, you task is done. Longest time wins. You time started when you entered the lab.
Please take the jugs, Cody
*lifts the jugs* wait, what did the task say? *puts down the jugs*
*blows whistle* I stopped the clock
Wait, what? Hang on, what? Wait. Wait... what?
Your task is done, please exit the lab.
So, I tried to warn them about the task, because the longer they waited, the easier the task was.
All seems perfectly clear to me... So Cody, what on earth was that?
The man's a liar! He's a feind! You can never trust him!
No, I understand that part. He can't be trusted, and I hate him with a burning passion too. But then after you read the task, you immediately put them down again.
Listen, this was all very disorienting.
I'm really starting to doubt your intelligence. But another thing I want to drill down into is the journey you take. You start with "wait, what" then you go to the "what, wait" but then, plot twist, you go back to "wait, what" once more.
It was a very confusing time for me, okay?
Well, he went for 2 minutes and 46 seconds. That's roughly the run time of Nocturne by Billy Joel
They say patience is a virtue. Maybe that will give us something to like about these two. It's Alejandro and Heather.
Btw, before we start, the attempts were individual, but I'm not gonna keep saying when I cut between them, so if Heather's talking, then it's Heather's attempt, and if Al is talking, then it's his own separate attempt.
Why can't I open the task?
All the information is in the task
That would be good to know if I could OPEN IT!
So what am I supposed to do? Sit here?
I have a questionnaire you can fill out.
Do you have any regrets in life?
I'm not gonna say I have no regrets, but I don't dwell on them.
I don't have any, but I'm not like those weirdos that doesn't have regrets.
What questions are these? I'm sad now. I'm opening the task
*both open and read the task*
I hate you *lifts jugs* I have some regrets now.
I am quite strong. That does come in handy with stuff like this.
I don't want to do this anymore *puts down jugs*
My arms are getting tired *drops jugs*
*blows whistle* I stopped the clock
I think I did pretty good *leaves*
This is why nobody l Ioves you and you'll due alone.
So Heather, do you or do you not have regrets?
I do, but I don't actively think if them.
Like stuff on the top shell?
And Alejandro, as someone who has known you since we were teenagers, honestly, I feel the same.
I think that that's the Catholic guilt working it's magic on me.
Just put that on Heather's mind shelf
No, she doesn't let me use her stuff. What's mine is hers, and what's hers is hers.
Well, they both opened the task for the same time, but Heather just gave up because-
Because I hate you and don't like being near you
So Heather got 6 minutes and 28 seconds, which is the runtime of Led Zeppelin's Dazed and Confused. And Alejandro was 10 minutes and 31 seconds, the runtime of Led Zeppelin's Achilles Last Stand.
Alright, enough about those two. Who's up next?
One of them is known for being calm and patient with animals, and the other is... Morie. It's Bridgette and Morie!
So what exactly am I supposed to do?
All the information is in the task
But you told me not to open it
I'm actually pretty good. I have a questionnaire you can fill out
How are you feeling today?
I was doing fine until this. Now I'm stressed the hell out.
I feel like it's gonna be trusting you
Trying to kiss Alejandro when I was a teenager
No. But I do often work with animals.
No, but Heather has cats. I hate cats.
Ooh, I love it when a microwave dings :D!
Ooh, I'm gonna get some hazelnut spread, and some chocolate drink. I'll be right back! *runs to kitchen*
I'll have it when I finish the task, which I feel lime I should open.
If you want to. I personally wouldn't.
I know, but, I feel like this has gone on long enough. *opens and reads task* Dang it! *picks up jugs* this is gonna be difficult.
Wait. Can I pour out the milk?
All the information is in the task.
Well, it doesn't say I can't. Can you unscrew the caps, please?
*pours milk onto floor* Now that feels much better. *turns around* oh, there was a bucket there.
That probably would have been better. Well, you guys can probably clean it up
*runs back into lab* I got the spread, some chocolate powder, and idk if I can use those milks, or if they're even good, so I brought a different milk from the fridge.
Idk if I can hold on longer *drops the milk*
*blows whistle * I stopped the clock, Bridgette.
Aw, I should have waited longer.
*Cut to Morie and Noah sitting down enjoying some chocolate milk*
Yeah, it's called Milo. It's really popular in Oceania and West Africa.
Might buy some after filming
Hey, do you smell that? It's like... spoiled milk.
*silence, for he knows the cause*
Crew worker: Hey, so uh, we're gonna be going on lunch in about 18 minutes, just to let you know
*cut to Morie and Noah eating salad*
Mmm, this pork chop salad is really good. Like, you know you're getting older, when you like, actually look forward to salad.
Yeah, if I went back in time, and told my younger self "hey, you're gonna like salad when you're older" he'd probably say, "Seriously? That's what you went back in time to say? That I like salad now?"
Ha, you do crack me up sometimes. But I still smell that spoiled milk.
It's like tic-tac-toe, but within each cell is another game of tic-tac-toe.
That's pretty neat. You know a lot of stuff
Thank you! We can play it, if you want
*85 minutes total has passed*
Nice! You finally beat me after 4 rounds. Well, I've talked and hung with you for the past 80 minutes, and I had a good time, but we got some other stuff to do. *opens the task and reads it* AAAAAHHHHH! *picks up the jugs. Aw dang it. I really don't like this
You're now at 90 minutes.
Wait, REALLY?! *immediately puts down jugs* WOOOOOO
*blows whistle* I stopped the clock, Morie.
I FEEL GREAT! I'm heading out, SEEYA!
*Morie runs up to hug Noah*
So Noah, what was that smell?
So, after Bridgette's attempt, we had thought that we clean all the milk from the lab. But it turns out that there was a pocket of milk under the floor, and it stunk up the lab.
I don't even care about that, I'm too happy for this moment!
Well, Bridgette had gone on for 19 minutes and 6 seconds, which is slightly more than British Rock band, Yes' song "Close to the Edge", which rockets her past Alejandro. But then Morie beats that by over 70 minutes, going over the runtime of Shrek, with 1 hour, 30 minutes, and 12 seconds.
*runs over to hug him again*
So that's 1 point to Cody, 2 to Heather, 3, to Alejandro, 4 to Bridgette, but Morie takes a CLEAN victory and wins the task with 5 points!
I'm finally done. Hope you enjoy
Also Cody dropping the jugs immediately is making me giggle
“And the other is…Morie” and his fear is string cheese oh my goodness
GOOD JOB BRIDGETTE YOU DID YOUR BESTEST!!!!! POUR THAT MILK ON THE FLOOR!!!! I love when a microwave dings too girl
