HOW I WOULD CHANGE STAR VS. THE FORCES OF EVIL?
Alright so I'm currently binge watching season 4 of Star Vs. The Forces of Evil for an upcoming video about Starco, the show's problem with writing romantic plotlines, and the series finale. I'm not here to spread any hate, I still love the show. And the team behind it did an awesome job creating it! Just wanna address it's flaws.
Here's a thread summarizing on how I would rewrite the series. I love to read all of y'all own thoughts and opinions about this somewhat controversial topic.
--Starco should just stay as best friends. They had this brother-sister like dynamic going on in season 1. Idk, I'm just kinda tired of seeing the two lead guy and girl characters ending up together at the end. A guy and a girl can just be platonic without turning romantic later.
-I'm SO happy with how they wrote Tom's character. He developed the most out of everyone. I actually thought he would just be the toxic/abusive a-hole boyfriend throughout the whole show. Still, him and Star should never have gotten together.
-I like to see Oskar roped into the plotline as well. Like what if he asks Star to hang out, but she thought it was a date. Later he reveals to be gay after Star confessed her crush on him. He just wanted to hang with her cause he thinks she's a really cool chick.
-Princess Ponyhead is a character that's in dire need of character development! She have not changed at all since the first season, in fact she gotten worse! What if she was much more street smart and reasonable/real than Star. She can still be sassy and love Star like a sister. Just tone down on the sassiness. Have her be like Amethyst from Steven Universe. She loves to have fun but also knows when to get serious. She's Star's ride or die but will call her out in an instant. Maybe she didn't like Marco because of Star's long history with guys.
-Kellco (KellyxMarco) should never happen! Just have the two just be pals and that's it. It's really dumb to have the two date for only a couple of weeks then break up offscreen.
-Marco should've just stayed together with Jackie Lynn Thomas. Dude been crushing on her since kindergarten! And Jackie is super chill with him hanging out with other girls (especially Star and Janna) while they are dating. Have Star be very supported of them instead of jealous.
-If anything Star should be with Janna out of anyone in the cast. The two have many things in common, both are strange and weird, love magic, rebellious, it's already confirmed canon that Star is bisexual! Maybe have Janna join their friend group sooner so relationship grows.
-Star confessing her crush on Marco before leaving to Mewni should never happen! Instead, she should just confessed about leaving Earth and all her friends (especially Marco), keeping it a secret until something caused her to reveal everything.
-The moment Star witnessed Jackie in her school's dance outfit (when she arrived to Marco's place) should be a starting moment for Star to realize she may like girls too but she's very unsure about it since she always had crushes and dated guys in the past. BOOM! Realistic bi-representation moment!
-The bigger plotlines involving Toffee, Eclipsa, Meteora, etc should still happen, but bring Ludo back! Give him a much bigger role! Idk, its feels like by season 4 the writers seems to forgot he even exists.
-I love to see Trans!Marco being canon! It's been hinted so much in the series about it could be possible in the future but of course that never happened...Damn you Disney!
-If you're gonna have Marco go on his own epic quests to earn his dimensional scissors, DON'T AGE HIM UP! Have him stick with being 14 rather than a 30-something year old man in a teen boy's body. The whole thing is confusing and pretty creepy since Star kept obsessing over his abs.
-Unnecessary but I think having Angie (Marco's mom) be pregnant since the beginning of the series would be nice way to show how much time changes between seasons (her belly getting bigger, maybe outfits change) than once she has Mariposa, perhaps have eps where Star and Marco babysits her. This could teach Star about responsibility. Also I love the idea of big sister Star!
-I miss Brittany Wong (Star's old rival in season 1), same with Marco's 2 guy friends Alfonzo and Ferguson that were dropped out of existence since season 1. Why not give Brittany some hidden depth to her character and let her have a secret geek side? You know that one Fairly Odd Parents episode where Timmy found out that Trixie Tang likes "boys stuff" like comics and video games? Yes exactly like that, and then Brittany ends up growing a strange, but sweet friendship with Alfonzo and Ferguson over their geeky hobbies.
