It's April. That means I'm heavy into Tax Season (sure, deadline was moved to May 17; still Heavy Tax Season). And it also means that my mom wants 14 custom birthday cards for May and June birthdays. Next week. But she can't send anything like she sent to anyone last year. So I'll make new cards. Because why not?

Finally out of quarantine. (Irrelevant story where I was never even slightly sick, but I still couldn’t Art for 10 days).

Now I’m back at it learning to use my gel plates! I’m not making brown this time! This is a much more forgiving learning curve. I’ll soon be able to add more ideas and designs to my greeting cards and prints.

Plus with the bigger plate I should be able to provide some custom papers and fabrics for bookbinding. If you wanted a hard copy of that favorite fic for instance...........

Now that gifts have been unwrapped, I can post pictures of what I made for my sister.

I got this blank accordion book and filled it with art and a poem.

Because I didn’t have the best lighting for pics, the poem reads:

No. 42

Remind me of the happiness

By the light of the moon

Thinking of earlier days

everyday words

She whispered softly

Under the stars

Make me a promise

Challenge the world

And as it is an accordion book, you can open it from the back and get a bonus book!

This one is a little less cohesive and is called “a collection”. I took the words from some of John Muir’s writings. It reads: as if formed of condensed sunbeams; between every two pine trees there is a door leading to a new way of life; in every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.

Also, I have pictures of the projects I’ve been working on. And mostly I’m actually really proud of them. But I can’t post them for another week. Check back next week for 15 panels, a set of note cards, and some extra large dice (with box). And probably more. Because I’m like that.

The one really great thing about stamping a set of social justice/protest note cards is that it doesn’t matter if it’s not perfectly centered or has the exact same ink saturation all the way through. It’s a protest sign. It doesn’t have to be perfect. But it should be spelled right.

#these stamps are spelled correctly #and purposeful misspelling is also acceptable #so long as I eventually get the joke

Yes, this is an 8 page book/poem in progress. It will make more sense later.
