So I watched X-Men: Apocalypse today
NO SPOIL HERE
Just my thought
First of all, they should stop saying X-men is an action movie because, well, it’s not.
Don’t get me wrong, I love x-men and I like XMA but as I watch this movie I realized the audiences who aren’t fans of this franchise won’t like it because XMA depends on audiences’ understanding of connections and bonds between characters. Without those, it feels empty.
My friend asked me as soon as I messaged her that I just got back from cinema that should she go and see it, so I tried looking from someone who is not a fan and hasn’t seen XMFC and XMDoFP perspective, I found that she wouldn’t be able to grasp emotions going on inside the older characters which are important to the story. She’s probably be ‘WTF’ the whole movie. I had to tell her that unless she willing to watch the whole trilogy and remember that this one is not an action movie, she wouldn’t find this one ‘good’ even though she thought XMA’s trailer is more interesting than CA:CW’s.
Now I understand why critics keep saying XMA is for fans. But I didn’t see chaos in storytelling like they were saying.
As for my point of view, as someone who has been watching this franchise from the start, I do like it. And I’m used to Bryan Singer’s style of directing so I can kinda predict it, this movie didn’t surprise me, but I like it the way it is. For me, it’s good the way it is. If the director wasn’t Singer, this movie could be better or it could be worse. Who knows, but this one is good enough for me to like it.
There’re something I want to write here but that count as spoilers so I can’t. Something like, why I still wanna punch Erik despise what he has gone through in this movie.
