Unnamed, 2024.
Acrylic on card.
By H.Morrison.
A wee painting for my painting class last year. I quite like it, I think it's very cool.
I got an A+ in my painting class last year. Woo! My best class of the year and helped bump my GPA up. My grades at art school have been significantly better than the grades I was getting trying to do science at university.
Science has too much writing, reading and lots of jargon that's irrelevant, plus the whole university environment has too many people and as a student you're just considered a number.
Kereru Painting, 2024.

A painting I did back when I was 16 and still in school. It was part of my wintery, polar theme I worked on for a year.
I still like to create works with lots of greenery, as I wish the world was more green and mystical. I wish cities had more trees, as the concrete and buildings are all dull and Grey. I fecking hate how modern infrastructure is all Grey, this is not how it should look to be human.

'My Own Private Refuge', 2024.
Intaglio Print.
Handprinted on white unica paper.
By H.Morrison
I like intaglio because once everything is etched onto the metal plate, you have that plate forever and can do as many prints as you could possibly want with it. Although I hate having to clean up using turps and meths and shite. The crap reeks and probably is bad to breathe in, considering it always gives me a headache, I think the answer is yes.
Acrylic paintings of Castle Hill, New Zealand.
A4 & A5
By H.Morrison.
Castle Hill is found in the canterbury high country. It's a whole bunch of rock formations clustered together in the hills. Parts of it resemble ancient ruins, it reminds me of Stonehenge or old crumbling castles.
'Iridescent Moon', 2024.
Acrylic and glitter on canvas panel.
By H.Morrison.
Available on Etsy ❤
Boris posing with the painting. I think he likes glitter and sparkles too.
Boris is a bloody noisy boy. Like fecking hell he's always yelling about something lmao.
'The future of New Zealand is Bright', 2024.
Acrylic on Canvas panel.
By H.Morrison.
A creative assignment for my contextual studies class, instead of having to writing a bunch of crap about art history that I don't have the patience for.
I analyzed contextual concepts semiotics, affect and neoliberalism. It's obviously about the destruction neoliberalism is causing to New Zealand and the ongoing environmental damage unregulated human activity is causing.
The current New Zealand government has been cutting public services and funding to the extreme, including environmental protections.
So imagined the iconic Aoraki becoming victim to the cruelty of neoliberalism, and what that could look like.

Back when I was still in high school and in my wintery black metal era 🖤
Still listen to mostly metal but now I find some of the black metal I used to listen to god awful lmao.

Sketch of my flatmate's cat Doris, that I did in the middle of a boring class lmao.
It started with me doodling chains and Why? Then led to me trying to draw cats, with Doris here being the only cat that actually looks like a cat.
Unnamed Painting, 2019.

I painted this for my grandparents for Christmas one year. It's a painting of one of the most famous mountains in iceland, with a name I have no fecking clue how to pronounce.
Untitled, 2018
Acrylic on card, A4 dimensions.
This is still one of my favourite paintings I've ever done. I miss being able to paint like this.

One of the first artist models I learned about and emulated was David Salle; an artist who uses lots of layering in their paintings.
I do enjoy using layering in paintings, I haven't done it in a long time though, I should definitely use it again.
Untitled, 2018.

One of the first of larger paintings I did when I first started creating art.
