cannot overstate how fucking funny it is that ive been agonizing for months over the "original main character" in this story im writing but then the moment i decide "u know what she can be a trans girl actually" its like the sky has cleared the birds are singing and suddenly i remember how to draw and write
#i was like. so determined. to not trans this character too bc i keep doing this.#but then i went on a rant mid rant realized that her being a repressed egg Works for the themes im going for#re: shounen series and the ways misogyny is expressed both on the level of the 'characters sexualizing any woman/girl'#but also the way said girls are forced into very limited boxes wrt the overarching narrative#i do need to be careful tho. atp like. solid 70% of the main cast is trans.#which is an accurate number in my friendgroups but not necessarily accurate in Shounen Manga#which is. what im trying to base this off of.#the thing is ive already come up with a million reasons to keep these characters as they are#which is the same as this situation rly. the 'u know what technically this fits the narrative themes im going for'#'theyre Breaking Out of the restricting confines of shounen manga tropes.'#which is true. but when u say that for like. 8 characters in a row#it kinda starts to feel. u know. 'this makes sense bc i said so.'#this is my story i can do what i want. but 'im having fun playing with my toys' sometimes needs to be reeled in. a bit#frost rambles
