          even in more normal circumstances, jesper would still be one of the worst people to ask that question around here. he has barely any money to his name, and any venturing into town that he’s done wouldn’t have given him any of that information anyway. the townsfolk were either too busy trying to kill each other or him, so there was no trying to reason with them at all. the more sensible strategy is to stay out of the crossfire as much as he can, only going in when he needs to to try and get his job done. so the best she would’ve gotten out of him would probably be a shrug and some kind of quip about how there’s nothing good like that on this island.

          but, y’know, mari... when you’re bringing an entire rathalos into the picture, too, that’s going to terrify someone that isn’t used to them. and that’s gonna make it hard for them to talk when they have a huge monster staring right at them. so imagine jesper’s surprise when, after muttering a tiny agreement to mari’s loud complaints to himself, he turns at the call for him and sees an extra set of eyes that he isn’t prepared for. in an instant, he’s freezing up, both from the weather and paralyzing fear, knees buckling in on themselves and the grip on his satchel growing unbreakable.

 Jae just stands there as if Jesper just said absolute nonsense for a second. What, no, Guest F doesn’t have a volcanic lair where she makes gunners feel bad, at least she hopes she doesn’t. Just a ‘very pink room’, as the last person she got to deliver something anonymously for her told her. 

 Then it clicks.

 “Jesper. That’s the wrong Guest, there’s six of them–” She realizes that she’s probably saying gibberish to Jesper, here, “–Just give me the letter back, I’ll get someone else to do it,”

          jae’s bafflement just translates to more of the same reaction from jesper, since he thought he had this all figured out... but apparently he didn’t, when she’s suddenly going on about there being more unmentioned and unexplained ‘guest’ figures. she doesn’t even bother to explain anything else, either, even when it’s significant enough to want a delivery to be made anonymously, so... naturally, the postman’s interest is going to be piqued.

  “You slide the mail into the mailbox, I literally do not see the issue here.”
