Me? Loser? Ha, right.
You are, I have aĀ lotĀ of evidence to prove it.Ā
I just bought it. So shush, donāt disturb me.Ā
Does disturbing you mean I can't come to your room with a sweater and asked for cuddles?Ā
Misery // Indie + Asher
Hearing him say okay, she smirked upon remembering their previous conversation. āOkay? Isnāt that flirting, Asher?ā She still didnāt understand the reference, but she hoped that she was using it correctly. Otherwise, sheād just feel completely stupid. Indie watched as he stared into space. His eyes were pretty. Not only was it pretty because of their color, but because of what was in them. Pure happiness. She hadnāt seen that in anyoneās eyes since they were little kids. She had never seen them in her own eyes, though. Even when she was a kid. Maybe she had been happy, but it ended so quickly that she didnāt have time to realize it. She sucked in a deep breath. Asher was this enthusiastic little shit, her basic opposite and it just irked her that a few minutes with him made her so happy. It kind of pissed her off, though. She hoped that someone like her true love would give her this feeling. Not some boy from high school that she might start to like as a friend? Hell no, she wasnāt letting this happen. She was too good for this. āThis friendship shit is hard,ā she thought to herself. Friends were just hard for her. Friends always left her. Indie gasped to herself upon hearing him speak. She felt flattered at first, but then she got mad. āDonāt.ā She said sharply. āItās been five and a half minutes,ā she whispered quietly. Just like that, the light had gone from her eyes, She was flattered, she really was. But she was just worried. If she ended up liking him and he might like her, then they would date and then she would lose her happiness. There were all these what ifās and whatevers and goodness, she wanted it to stop. āAsher,ā she whispered, her brown eyes looking up at him, āplease.āĀ
"Ah! The grasshopperĀ hasĀ been paying attention all along," Asher answered happily. That had to mean that their conversations meant something to her. Or at least she remembered their conversations for a significant reason. Hearing her take a deep breath, he glanced at over at her. Shit. Was she alright? Did he say or do something? "Ind-" he didn't dare continue. He figured that it was something she'd open up to him with later on in their friendship, when they could talk about anything in the open, he'd bring it up. He furrowed his eyebrows at her. "It's been six, actually," he answered calmly, looking at the time from the clock on the wall. He held the hot cocoa in his hands and put his arm down. "I'm not in the business of denying myself the simple pleasure of saying true things, Miss Martinez," he quoted. Maybe she would get it one day. Maybe she would get that Asher fell in love with little things of people, but not the person. He could fall in love with Indie's giggle, but it didn't mean he fell in love with Indie. She spoke again and that's when he knew something just wasn't right. "Ok-Alright, I won't," he said. He avoided the "o" word. But he knew something was up. Did she have a really low self-esteem or did she just hate compliments? Maybe she had a boyfriend and he said she was pretty and then she didn't like being called pretty because that was what he called her. "Fuck,"Ā he thought to himself. He wanted to apologize, but he didn't really know what for. Realizing that he might've made this really awkward, he handed her the hot cocoa. "Here you go," he said in a cheery tone, "last one to the bottom has to give the winner a piggyback ride."Ā
Call me weak then because iām taking a fucking nap.
What a loser.Ā

Well. Iām tired as fuck.
But sleep is for the weak.
What the hell does that even mean? No. Whatās it called again?Ā
You have to read the book! It'sĀ The Fault in Our StarsĀ by John Green.Ā
Who the hell is Augustus Waters?Ā
He lights up like a Christmas tree. Oh, did you buy the book yet?Ā
You havenāt a right to call me that.Ā
In the name of Augustus Waters, I have every right to call you that.Ā
Sierra. Why?
Indie Sierra. I like it.

You sound angsty. No, I donāt. Other than midget, shorty, and no, I will not tie your shoes because Iām closer to the ground.Ā
Damn, Indie, so harsh. Do you have a middle name?Ā
What relationship?Ā
This damned relationship. And, Indie, do you have any nicknames?Ā
It was a joke, Asher.
I'm the one with the jokes in the relationship, sweetheart.Ā
Iām always quiet and polite.Ā
I do believe the latter is quite untrue. Example: "Hello, Satan."Ā
Not too big and not too small. Youāre just the right size.
Ouch, I can take that. How're you today? I mean, other than perverts and douchebags alike.Ā

Misery // Indie + Asher
"Excuse me? Did you just say I was-" The girl cut herself off, deciding it best to just let slight teasing go. But what if it wasnāt teasing, and he had actually meant that he thought she was cute? She didnāt care. Asher was a stupid, reckless boy who she wasnāt even close to. She didnāt have any clue if he was joking or if he was serious. Indie furrowed her eyebrows, "I swear, Asher, if you did, Iām going to eat your soul." Hot cocoa was one of her favorite things because it made her remember all the happy times of her childhood. When her mom came through every single Christmas and bought her something she wanted. She could remember almost everything her mom got her. Her fifth Christmas was a big barbie house that her mom had re-painted. Her ninth was a book of things that we should be thankful for in life. Her fourteenth was a shopping spree, her very first. And she could go on and on, but all she knew was that she needed the hot cocoa badly. Indie turned her attention back to Asher when she heard him speak. She smiled at him, "Itās okay, Iāll just buy it on my kindle or something." She found it kind of adorable that he cared so much that he didnāt bring his book.
Indie looked into the taller boyās eyes, raising her eyebrow as if questioning what he was looking at. āHeās looking at you, dumbass,ā she thought to herself. Did she have something on her face? Why did she even care? Since when did she care about his opinion? So many questions ran through her head which pretty much pissed her off. Probabilities and guessing and chances, if they werenāt certain Indie just hated them. Reason number three hundred fifty two why she wasnāt interested in boys. Well, until now. She wasnāt really interested in Asher, she was just trying out being friendly for once. Seeing that he held the mug over his head, she screeched. āAsher! Iām gonna kill you!ā She tried jumping for it, but she had gotten her motherās height and that meant that being five feet tall would just be something that sheād have to deal with. She punched his stomach lightly, a giggle escaping her mouth. Butterflies fluttered in her stomach, which confused her even more.
"Okay," he muttered in reply to her brushing off the fact that he had forgotten his book. He couldn't believe that she didn't care about it. Maybe she would finally understand why he felt that she really needed to read it when she finished. He could already see her in tears, screaming and cursing John Green. Then she would call him, she would call him first and caps lock text him four or five times. Indie seemed like that kind of person to him. But he didn't even know her. How could he even think of- "Shut the fuck up," he thought to himself. Why did he start doing this thing whenever it was Indie? Two, four minutes and he was already screaming on the inside.Ā Asher only laughed at her attempts to reach her hot cocoa. He felt a spurt of new found happiness in his heart, even if he had just started to really befriend her. Asher knew of her existence in high school, of course, but he never really talked to her until their trips to Colorado. And even then, it was pretty insignificant small talk. He loved these memories. Simply because they were full of laughter and happiness and there was another feeling, too. He couldn't quite explain it, but it felt like, likeĀ butterflies.Ā He didn't think too much of it, though. After what happened with Lizzie, he figured that diving in too soon was something he should learn from. There was that little giggle again, the little giggle that could cure cancer and stop wars. "You're so pretty, Indie," he whispered to her. He hoped she didn't hear him because he didn't mean to say it, it just was one of these things that slipped.
Iād tell him that too. I think youāve got about a medium sized dick, though, Asher.
Define "medium".Ā
