I did a half day digital fast + first proper day off in what seems like weeks. Whatās your goto rest and rejuvenation process? Today for me it was (1) sleep as long as possible - stay in bed after I wake, resist the temptation to get up and do stuff and be a āproductiveā human. (2) Then I did a time-limited phone session (15 mins if poss) to attend to or postpone any obligations. If your rest day isnāt regular or planned then this step is a must. It relaxes the mind and lessens the tendency to constantly wind wander over the to-do list. (3) Phone off again (4) āJourney to Satchitamandaā on repeat quietly in the back ground. (5) Gentle somatic experiencing (in bed) to unwind stresses from the body (thank you body for handling my life!). (6) emotional release and maintenance - engaging with IFS-style parts work as it arises in the movement practice in order to work with any neglected or conflicted ambient emotions that may be present in the back ground. (7) Feel very happy I am taking care of myself, and know that it helps me be present and show up in every other area of my life! So far this could be 90 mins to 3 hours. (8) Get some food - if I didnāt eat already Iām hungry by then so I have something light and find a good coffee (there is a women who trains baristas at the artist area at @earth_frequency a festival š„āļøš„) (9) Maybe go on a walk in nature, or a swim if possible - I went for a walk but am scared or snakes when in Australia so kept it short and walked in the mud barefoot to coffee shop instead :) . (10) And then when Iām done, actually done - not just wanting to talk to someone, or feeling restless due to the lack of stimulation from phones, people, things - Iāll call my wife and tell her I love herā¦. maybe Iāll sleep more :) PS - Iāll post the EFF festival pics soon, later, tomoz.
