step into the light

One of the things I loved most about Young Royals was the portrayal of female friendships. Way too often in teen dramas, the girls are pitted against each other and act catty or talk about each other behind their backs. Felice had all the makings of another stereotypical rich high school mean girl but they totally subverted that trope and made her so sweet and a character you genuinely love. They could have drawn out the tension of what happened with August and Sara or had Felice lash out and blame Sara, but they didn’t. They had healthy communication as friends and cared more about each other and their friendship than a boy, which was SO refreshing to see. All of the girls love each other and accept each other, despite their differences.
