I know you feel it too. The emptiness. The feeling of missing something important. How do you just ignore it? Doesn’t it build up over time until you explode irrationally over something like your order being messed up at the drive-thru? You get angry over the most insignificant things because you’re ignoring the bigger picture. The fact that the way things are crushes your soul, little by little, every day. I couldn’t stand it anymore. To me, pretending to be happy was worse than using drugs to numb my feelings.

Addicts are people who, at some point, lost part of themselves, and now have a hole they have to fill with anything that eases the constant feeling of emptiness.
