I know I haven't been active on tumblr in years, but any kind of help with my cat's medical expenses would be greatly appreciated. She is family to me and I want to give her the best chance at beating cancer.

Awesome Con 2021

I know it's been a while tumblr. I'm still alive. I am still working. I still don't really have time for a lot of social media. However, I do want to commit to some kind of text what I can recall of the Back to the Future panel from this past convention. When the pandemic originally struck, conventions were cancelled. I didn't expect these two to come back to conventions - yes, they had been scheduled for Awesome Con 2020 but they are the last two people you would want catching the corona virus. Yet, they came! They were protected by a plastic shield and strict rules for photos. I'm not sure how autographs went - I already have mine from 6 years ago. However, I really wanted this photo and while I think I stood a little too far back from the plastic, I love their expressions. We were not allowed to photograph or record their panel. I hope Awesome Con recorded it for posterity. Everyone around me respected that rule. They entered to standing ovations and we had to be cajoled into settling down. Michael nearly made me cry right off the bat. I can't recall it exactly but it went something like "I didn't think I would be remembered, but I remember you guys." Something to that sentiment - how he thought himself or his works were no longer relevant but he remembers that we care for him and cheer for him and that's important to him. I admit, he was a little harder for me to understand than normal - he was very rapid fire!

They took turns answering questions that were gathered off of social media by the moderator - another precaution I think to keep them safe as they were without masks. Some questions were the standard fare - what were your favorites to shoot (C: 3, M: 1), did you know it would be a big hit (no, not until we saw the lines at the theaters!), memorable moments on set, etc. I really like how they answered questions about things they received from the set - which I can't recall what Michael said but Christopher said he got a shirt in the most disappointed voice. Apparently his wife hates it and he has to hide it from her in the back of his closet! Michael did remark on how he feels like he is the flying monkeys from the Wizard of Oz for the new generations of fans (the monkeys were his favorite part from that movie as a child). Christopher very dead panedly said he had no creative input while Michael did mention getting little jokes put in such as "on my hope chest" or how he said he wanted to make a Wild West movie. They were quite hilarious in trying to brainstorm a Back to the Future 4 - Christopher was coming up with the ideas while Michael was exclaiming "Are you pitching this?" "There's the pitch!" Possible sequels: how did Doc and Marty meet, Doc and Marty meet Rick and Morty, and there was a third one I forgot. They kept circling back to this and I think both of them wouldn't mind being in a 4th movie if the original director and writer were on board. One other thing that was touching was how often Michael pointed out that Christopher was frankly amazing when they were making the films. He talked about his acting, how he laid pipe (aka exposition), and his comedic timing. Christopher would try to play it off, Michael would try to imitate some of the zany improve he did, and we would all just clap. They were asked what else they would do if they weren't actors which was interesting to hear though I forget what Michael said what he wanted to do. Christopher would want to operate large machinery. They both approached acting differently - Michael was determined to get in while Christopher thought that was all he could do. They did share a fist bump over never finishing high school. I think the most touching moments were when Michael and Christopher would mention how much they had grown closer and been there for each other over the years. They weren't necessarily close when they made the films but these days they seem to rely on one another and value the other more. I think there was a possible "I love you man" but I could be wrong. There was definitely emotion in their voices. Of course they hugged at the end, possibly at the above mentioned point. The panel ended there and they went off stage. Michael was going the wrong way at first but turned around to go the right away. At some point he took Christopher's arm - maybe to not trip over him - and ended up dragging him off stage with him. I say dragging because Christopher was walking slower and steadier and was gripping Michael's arm back. Maybe they both needed some steadying on their feet? I'm sure they had spent most of the day sitting! Naturally they got a standing ovation for as long as the con staff would allow us. Overall, it was a lovely panel and I am glad I did decide to rebuy my tickets and see them. Yes, they were younger and maybe a bit more vibrant 6 years ago. It did make me realize that maybe in the near future I will wake up to some sad news. I hope not though I know it is inevitable. Despite that train of thought, I am so thankful that they retain their senses of humor. (Michael had to apologize for playing with his shoelaces at one point which cracked me up. He also referred to the movies success as the cat's ass which just made me giggle.) I'm grateful that they showed us their depth of their friendship. I am also glad they turned up the moderator's microphone so that Christopher could hear her!

I know I don’t post on most of my social media often so it came as a surprise to find my Facebook account deactivated. So if you use that and FB messenger as a way to communicate with me, you can’t until they finish reviewing it. Contact me via email/text/Discord. I’m not sure why it got deactivated - except someone who has something against me reported my account. I don’t know who that would be but if you are the one who did it, and you follow me here, go ahead and unfollow. Remove yourself from my life because instead of coming to me to work out whatever issue you had, you tried to get rid of me from a site I have just as much right to use as use. I have no time to deal with people who are that shallow.
