jacks' pain of losing eva being described as “agony, the sort of raw grief that was only seen once in a century.” jacks being “every tear that anyone had ever shed for lost love” and becoming “pain given form.” </3

it’s funny to see jacks telling eva not to act as he’s “her friend, husband, lover” like she’s the one who acts romantically, when he is the person who is always taking action. lala shortly afterwards mentions how he seemed prepared to kill for evangeline, and how she was afraid he was going to kiss her. he also wouldn’t let her talk to any men, actually threatened to kill anyone who was a threat to her and always touching her and pulling her into hugs and almost kisses. eva herself mentions in this scene that he held her like she was the person he wanted all night. i mean, jacks, is it a self-criticism, love?

I haven’t seen enough discussion about the scene when eva kills that girl and all she wants is jacks and as soon as he finds her he comforts her then is fully prepared to flee with her like pack ur bags baby I’ll hide the body I LOVE THEM

there’s this passage where lala says that even with the slightest attraction jacks could be tempted to kiss, and that speaks volumes about how he feels with evangeline. we know that he is clearly attracted, and very much, due to the various passages that show this, and on top of that he is also in love and has sacrificed his everything for her. he says there is nothing of equal value to him. when we remember that fate feels very intensely and that he is fighting his feelings so hard not to kill her, we can see how much he loves her. for he has felt similar things before, but for her it is so much greater than all other times. it’s so real, so punctual in his life that i can’t help but think that eva is really unique to him.
