Romance Chloe In LIS 1, Sacrifice Chloe, Don't Romance Chloe In Reunion - This one is profoundly tragic in a missed connection sort of way. In a timeline where there was no storm Max had to stop, maybe her and Chloe ended up together as a couple. But in this reality Max sacrificed Chloe then didn't see her for YEARS.

Her feelings changed and faded with time, and Chloe is living with these memories of a breakup that never happened and never will happen because her and Max have never been officially together and never will. Yet, the "breakup," stops Chloe from pursuing things again, and Max has changed. This route is SO angsty and I need 500 fics just exploring the what could have been of this route immediately.

Don't Romance Chloe In LIS 1, Sacrifice Chloe, Romance Chloe In Reunion - This route hurts so much! Imagine a Max who isn't brave enough to romance Chloe in LIS, choosing to sacrifice her "best friend" to save the town and realizing that any chance she had of something more is lost forever.

Then Chloe shows up at her door, and fate itself gives her back the chance she lost. As an adult she's brave enough to do what her teenage self couldn't, and I especially love this route if you romanced Amanda because it also means that Max has come into queerness with time and that has probably influenced why she's comfortable making a move on Chloe now. Plus, of course, not wanting to live with regret for a second time around if they do lose each other again. Overall this is just a really good angst route. 10/10.

Don't Romance Chloe In LIS 1, Sacrifice Arcadia Bay, Romance Chloe In Reunion - This is probably the craziest route in the whole game. It means that Chloe and Max were traveling together for years and never officially got together, but the second they meet again in "Reunion" they find the courage to start something.

I think this route has so many implications about their trauma and how it stagnated their relationship. Without the town being in the way they're able to just jump right in, and it makes me wonder about all the times Max and Chloe felt something more than friendship for each other, but didn't act on it for all the reasons that separated them in Double Exposure. This route is so good for angst and yearning. Honestly, I'm a big fan of this one despite always romancing Chloe in LIS.

Romance Chloe In LIS 1, Sacrifice Arcadia Bay, Don't Romance Chloe In Reunion - I don't want to play this route for the angst of it all, but narratively I would be lying if I said I don't find this concept interesting. There's something to be said about Max and Chloe coming back together because they always will, but holding a new distance from each other. Max, because of how Chloe left her, and Chloe, because of her garbled memories that do include a break up.

I do find something interesting in the idea of Max and Chloe realizing that they NEED each other but don't necessarily need to be together. I do think this route feels realistic in a way, BUT I'm personally not playing the gay time travel game for realism. I will take my Pricefield together please, even though I do think this route has a lot to think about.

Don't Romance Chloe In LIS 1, Sacrifice Arcadia Bay, Don't Romance Chloe In Reunion - As someone who ships Pricefield, I actually do like this route. Regardless if Chloe and Max's love is platonic, romantic, or a secret third thing, they love each other more than anything else. I also think there's a story to be told about two queer women with a deep and profound connection that's not inherently romantic.

Like I said, I'm a huge Pricefield shipper and just shipper in general as I love romance, but as a queer women I do think "Two queer best friends who love each other so much they would tear apart the universe for each other," is profound in it's own way. This isn't my preferred route, but I do think it has it's value.

Don't Romance Chloe In LIS 1, Sacrifice Chloe, Don't Romance Chloe In Reunion - As I was saying in "Don't Romance Chloe In LIS 1, Sacrifice Arcadia Bay, Don't Romance Chloe In Reunion" point, I do think Chloe and Max having a friendship is a story with value, and there is something profound about two queer friends being separated by death, only to get another chance to get their happy ending and preserve the connection they have. I'm not going to say a lot here because I feel like I pretty much said my thoughts in the paragraph about how I view the friendship route.

Romance Chloe In LIS 1, Sacrifice Arcadia Bay, Romance Chloe In Reunion - This is my route and probably the route a lot of people in the fandom played, and the reason why is because it's a good route! I do like that Max and Chloe are able to work out their differences, and anyone who played this route likely wanted a happy ending and that's what we got, so I'm pleased.

But I do have so many thoughts about Max and Chloe only being able to rekindle once their trauma is fixed. I do wish they got the chance to actually work things out with their canon trauma intact, but I do understand that the game is HEAVILY implying that the storm trauma strongly impacted Chloe and therefore the relationship, which does make sense. But yeah, my feelings about this route are somewhere between "Of course Max will always take the chance to fix things for Chloe! They're soulmates after all," and "I do wish we got more storm Chloe Pricefield and got to explore that more."
