Jon Germain replies critics after social media mishap
TV presenter and musician Jon Germain has come under criticism after he replied someone who disrespected him on social media, Twitter. He recently granted an interview to Live FM’s entertainment desk where he highlighted how worrisome it is for people to throw insults at celebrities for no substantial reason.
The eloquent gentleman is surprised at how people are abusing twitter rather than tapping into its benefits. He said, “A lot of people seem to misunderstand what social media,especially twitter,is for”
Jon added “the saddest part is when people who insult celebrities start getting followers and I wonder which kind of people start following them”
Jon Germain has justified the fact that celebrities also have feelings, he said “let’s not forget we are humans, one day we also wake up at the wrong side of the bed, in a very bad mood and you say something bad and we say something back”.
The fashionable presenter has advised that people should not hide behind social media and be insensitive to the feelings of others. He said, “There are people who have become popular because what they do is wake up every morning and tweet horrible things about some celebrities.”
He also revealed what his celebrity friend attempted as a result of social media abuse. Jon said, “I was talking to a very close friend of mine, I’m not going to mention his name, but because of insults on twitter, this gentleman was close to doing something bad”.
Jon Germain was also disgusted about the numerous jokes on social media about hip-life musician Castro’s disappearance; “Some of the tweets I see about Castro and people making jokes, it’s sad. I don’t know how that can be. I don’t understand if that’s how we see twitter, to make fun of things that are serious, to bring people we are supposed to love down”.
He however acknowledged that foreigners are nicer to Ghanaian celebrities saying, “You get people from Nigeria and other countries tweeting nice things about Ghanaian actors and musicians. I don’t understand and somebody better explain it to us all”
“This world is a very interesting place, what goes around comes around. I don’t know why attacking and abusing people should be fun”.
“Social media helps because I get people tweeting me from a lot of countries but I don’t know whether the negatives are too much”.
Jon Germain has stopped his TV Show Allo Tigo which he has been running for over a decade and will be venturing into other areas which he will make know later.
