Never be afraid to talk. 

Sometimes it’s all we have. 

I struggle with the impact EMS has had on my mental health every single day. 

It took me a long time to realise that the root of a lot of my issues lay with my time on the ambulance. 

I have an overwhelming paranoia of pedestrians getting hit by vehicles, of my vehicle being the one. My heart jumps into my throat every time I see someone step into the road, even if they’re in a crossing. I have to double back, sometimes over and over and over, until I am sure that I did not hit them. 

Sometimes I think the future is hopeless. I’ve stayed quiet, yet I speak about how society needs to change the way mental health is perceived.

Residents woke up to fire and smoke in a kitchen, Stubbs said, and ran out without their cellphones. One person was taken to Atlanta Medical Center for treatment, Stubbs said. “They had to beat on other apartments to get somebody to call 911,” he said. “That put us a little behind the eight ball.” By the time fire officials arrived, the fire was too intense to get inside, according to Stubbs. A ladder truck was used to douse the flames shooting through the second floor and through the roof, he said.
