basically an alternate universe where the yellowjackets' plane crashes on the island from lost instead of the wilderness

story would most likely be set in 2004 instead of 1996- simply because it'd be easier to adapt that way given the timeline of events on the island

in this au, all of the girls are jacob's candidates- he considers them all to be potential contenders for the new protector of the island, but it's kind of obvious who would actually be willing to take up the job lol (lottie)

the girls have more of a difficult time hunting and finding food at first, given that they don't have any guns or ammunition on them up until finding the hatch- most of the time, they just end up resorting to fruit or fish (fishing also takes a while for them to properly figure out lmao)

ethan is still present in the narrative- however, he doesn't attempt to mask himself as one of them since they were on a private plane, and instead tries to lurk in the shadows and keep track of them from a distance. he eventually gets caught when attempting to kidnap shauna- after which she knocks out and nearly kills him. they hold him hostage and attempt to figure out where he came from.

travis and nat are the ones that first find the hatch while out hunting- the second day that they examine it to figure out what it's for, lottie and laura lee run into them while they were on their way to perform the baptism. lottie takes great interest in the hatch- and after her baptism-induced vision, she believes it to be important and vital to whatever the island wants out of them. her and laura lee spend several days attempting to get it open- which inevitably leads into laura lee dying the same way boone did.

it's tai's initial idea to build the raft in order to find rescue- van immediately tags along, and they plan to build a raft that can fit two other people alongside them, same as in the original show. nat and travis sort of end up fighting over the third spot, since travis wants to take javi with him- but this only due to them having the argument in relation to the whole flex thing at the same time. after they go their separate ways (at first), nat takes over hunting entirely while travis helps build the raft. tai isn't thrilled about him going with them, but appreciates the extra pair of hands.

however, tai ultimately feels forced to forfit going on the journey after other tai tries to burn the raft while she is sleepwalking- she confesses to van that she's afraid of what her other self might do if it's just the four of them out in the middle of the ocean, and feels as though she has no choice but to stay behind. van tries to convince her not to, not wanting to go without her- but eventually respects her choice.

i'm kind of on the fence about who would meet danielle first- a part of me wants to say misty, since she would be the most likely to know how fix her music box? but regardless, i would say danielle is more fond of the girls in comparison to how she treated the 815 survivors- although she does still maintain her distance most of the time, she looks out for them more often and cares deeply about their safety- they all individually remind her of alex, and what she imagines she might be like as a teenager.

the events of doomcoming nearly transpire- however, they are interuppted by danielle showing up in the middle of the party, before they all start to drink- coming to warn them that the others are going to arrive at their camp soon. van, travis, and javi, take the raft out as soon as they can, while tai, shauna, nat, misty, and danielle go out to the dynamite to blow open the hatch for safety. ben wants to go with them, but knows that he unfortunately won't be of much help, given his injury.

the others still decide to kidnap javi and blow up the raft- not because they think javi is special like walt, but rather because they want to use him as leverage to get ethan back. however, ben takes this to a much bigger extreme- he decides that, in exchange for javi, he not only wants ethan back, but also wants three other members of their camp- by the events of the lost season 2 finale, the others will have taken travis, nat, and misty- travis and nat are mostly for the purpose of labour, like kate and sawyer were- but misty specifically they take because ethan believes that they could convince her to become one of them. for misty, it is somewhat enticing to be offered a community of people who would relate to her and appreciate her for who she is as a person- however, her dedication to the yellowjackets ultimately triumphs over that.
