I do have to agree, it's quite nice to just lounge around and not have to worry. There's also sometimes all the expectations of meeting in person. And we're able to get all the awkward small talk out of the way in a little bit of a more eloquent manner since we're able to think and rethink our words.

I think because I judge people too quickly at times. I don't often take time to get to know someone, which is all well and good if you're floating around the hookup culture, but I think I'm a little more ready to start a path to meeting someone. I get that, truly. It is a terrible thing but sometimes it’s best to trust that gut instinct. There have been many people that I have cut ties with early on that turned out to be terrible people. It can sometimes come off as cold hearted or cruel but at the end of the day I must protect my own peace. And, my gut has never steered me wrong.

Ah, yet another thing we have in common! I think this is an interesting way to form new bonds with people. I like the anonymity of it. It helps with that judging people too harshly thing. But also because we are able to better temper our thoughts, it opens us up to things we might not normally be open to. Conversations can be deeper and more meaningful without the fear of societal constraints.

That’s very true. We have those gut instincts for a reason and we should listen to them. I know I have ignored mine in the past and those have not been the best situations. But you have to do what is best for you to protect yourself and your peace.

Yes exactly! I do quite enjoy getting time to think of my words before putting them down. Not because I want to doctor up my responses but because sometimes things get said that you need to process and think over to respond to properly.

I think choosing the new adventure is a good way to decide, in which case I would also go with the aquarium. I feel like all that blue would be so soothing to sleep to--and the sound of the water running.

I have slept under the stars before too. I went camping a few times in my youth when I visited my grandmother. It wasn't my favorite activity in the world, but it was nice to connect with nature in that way. I love nature, even if I am more of a city person. Animals just have a way about them.

I think that's another point for an aquarium, lol.

I wouldn't say I have a 'modern' sense of looking at things such as marriage and relationships, but I know my sense of traditional can be different from others. I often lean more toward matriarchal traditions rather than patriarchal ones. This doesn't mean I think the man should stay at home while the woman works, just more of who may be the one calling some of the shots in the relationship, so to speak.

As far as parenthood goes, I would love to be a parent, it is truly something I desire most in this world. However I think the most realistic method for becoming a parent for me would be adoption or surrogacy. There have just been a lot of things in my life that have made me come at things from a different sort of perspective and while I think we may share a common end goal--a loving happy family--the paths to get there may be slightly different.

Sorry, this is a difficult thing to explain without giving away too much about myself, thus sort of ruining the whole point of the anonymity. But if we get the chance to meet in person I would like to be a little more straightforward and clear with you, if you would be open to that.

But I will say, there are a lot of things that I could reach compromises about. Because again, we seem to share an end goal and that could be the most important part of this all.

So, as for my likes and dislikes, well, here they are!

I like being outside, as we talked about already. I like my house. It is where I grew up-- I still live at home. But I can think of no better place in teh world. I like sticking to my comfort zone, I suppose, which means some people call me boring. But I think sometimes, I like being boring-- I like being a homebody, I like keeping things simple, I like routines.

Now if I haven't bored you, I guess some more interesting things that I like...well, I like video games! But not the shoot em up kind. I sort of play that with my siblings sometimes but I prefer video games that immerse me in a new world. I love a video game with a distinct art style, for example. I like it when the characters are very cute and the colors are vibrant. I also like a good challenge or doing puzzles so if that comes along with the game, even better!

As for my dislikes, oh dear.

I dislike when people break the rules. It feels so disrespectful, and oh I hate disrespectful people. I dislike littering-- no, I hate littering. Absolutely hate it. I dislike when people are very very loud for no reason and are disruptful of those around them. I dislike having to repeat myself. I dislike very long fake fingernails-- and I know thats a personal preference, and to each their own, but I myself don't like them, I think they're rather scary and dangerous at times! I also just dislike things that are too expensive, unnecessarily so. For example, why does it cost over 30 quid to cut my hair? I don't even have a lot of hair! I just think it's absurd to spend money in that way!

I also enjoy the outdoors, I also live in my family home still, I think there’s nothing wrong with being a homebody. I don’t play video games but I do enjoy watching when those close to me play them, and I agree on the interesting world ones.

I know you mean you enjoy puzzles in the game but I do also enjoy a good puzzle from time to time and I think solving one with someone could be a great way to bond. Or see how competitive we get over being the one to fill out the most of it.

I dislike when people are disrespectful, and littering as well. I agree with the noise thing as well, it’s part of why I enjoy my house so much. It’s relatively secluded so there are no noisy neighbors.

Sometimes I have worn those long fake nails but not to a length where you could tell. I definitely stick to more of a length that feels manageable and looks a little more like they’re my own nails grown out.

I agree with the unnecessarily expensive thing but I’m a bit of a collector (not in a cluttered way, I keep it all very organized and well displayed) so there are some things that may seem frivolous of me to spend money on but they do make me happy. But I’m also good about reselling things and clearing space before bringing in new things. That being said, I do know how to cut hair. I may not be an expert but if it may counterbalance the expenses, I can definitely do your hair.

As I said above, I like gardening, collecting interesting things I find at whosits and whatsits and from farm to table. I enjoy reading and relaxing and listening to records. I’m a bit old fashioned with a lot of my likes, which I know counters some of my earlier statements about relationship dynamics slightly, but just because I like the things from the 1960s doesn’t mean I agree with their politics or mentality, if that makes sense? (I like things from plenty of decades that was just an example.) I like having a glass of wine on my balcony and enjoying the moonlight, I like a chance to dress up.

As for dislikes, I do not like showboating—like when a man tries to make a point of his masculinity to impress me, it usually does the exact opposite. I don’t like leaving a messy environment. I don’t like swearing but I have nothing against other people swearing but sometimes it does feel a bit excessive. I don’t enjoy people being rude; it isn’t hard to say please and thank you. I don’t like to be bossed around, I am not a child and I’m not someone’s property or employee so there is no reason to demand anything of me or tell me what I can and cannot do.

Do I believe in love? I like to, yes. I’ve been scorned by it in the past and I’ve seen the blinders it can put on you, but I like to believe that there is good love to be found in the world. When I was younger I was more about what was new and on the top shelf and all of that, but as I've gotten older I realize how poor quality stuff is these days. I have gotten quite the amount of comments about my Prada. I assure you, as of currently, my Prada is in pristine condition. I didn't think that there would be that many people who were concerned about Prada potentially being ruined. But it does give me hope.

It's nice to meet you, as well. I think I decided to do this because it is a fun way to meet people. It takes the pressure off from having to look my best. There's no rule that says I can't answer these emails in my lounge clothes with no make up on and my hair a mess. It's refreshing. Though, that's not to say there isn't a sense of dread in some aspect because it leaves you to have to answer questions without the distraction of a well timed smile or coy look.

It's so nice to meet you as well! I appreciate you being upfront in your approach, not too many people will do that.

While I would not like to be completely written off as a candidate for you, as a relationship like that would be an ideal outcome for me as well, I don't want to spring too quickly into saying "yes that is exactly what I'm searching for as well" because I don't want either of us to get our hopes set too high right away. When you say you are looking to have a family, what do you mean by that exactly? Extended family, children? Are you looking to have biological children or adopt or would step-children be fine--I am just looking to understand more before either of us write the other off!

I didn't sign up for this program looking for marriage to come out of it, but of course that would be the ideal outcome as I stated above. I also wonder what sorts of values you hold about marriage and how traditional of a marriage you're looking for? Not to say I'm looking for something nontraditional, I am just curious and figure I should get some of my questions of the sort out of the way as well.

P.S. Thank you. It certainly can be, and I can understand the feeling of wanting to forget some of it and just being reminded of the past can be a difficult thing. Though I do think it is important to remember and to feel those feelings because a lot of that comes from things that were once important to you and they're a part of who you are. It can be painful, but it is an important kind of pain.

Ah, you are very thorough and detail-oriented. I admire that! I'm happy to answer your questions with equal thoroughness, no matter the result.

I would like to have biological children. But I am open to things such as adoption and surrogacy, etc. But I very much want children, probably at least two, but I am flexible on all that, and feel very ready for that stage of my life to begin.

As for the type of marriage, I think traditional does describe me more than not, but I also realize we live in a modern society. I don't want my wife to feel like she has to give up her career forever, as long as we are both practical about what it means to both be working parents. Thankfully, I do have local family who would happily contribute to childcare, and in fact, would probably insist on that. I'd love that, if only because I think it's important for a child to have a wide family. Grandparents can teach parents and grandchildren so much. Other values for marriage, I think my family's cultural traditions are very important to me. They are also on the more, hm, I guess people might call them patriarchal, and so that might be a turn off, but that's what it is. My wife would need to play her part in those traditions. Again, we live in a modern society, so there's always some things you can make compromises on, as long as you realize that there are reasons for certain things and those reasons go back for generations. My other values I imagine won't seem controversial: communication, trust, equality. Even if I am traditional, that doesn't mean I don't want an equal partner. I do. I would like someone who could be strong in the areas I am weak and vice versa. I would want someone to lean on. A true partnership.

Finally, in regard to your final question, yes! I do like the outdoors. I spend at least one to two hours outside a day. I like walks, hiking, fishing, and even camping.

Now, hopefully that isn't too much. I understand if it is, though.

It's good to hear your thoughts on children, and I absolutely agree that having family involved is so important when raising them. I have a rather small family myself so it warms my heart to hear you have so much family in town.

To be honest, I don't entirely mind being a homemaker, but there's definitely more to all of that than I believe we could go into in these emails. It is good to know what you want and are looking for, but its even better that you know compromises will have to be reached. Because this is a modern world and there has to be some levels of adaptability.

I'm glad you're looking for an equal partner. There are too many who are looking for someone to take on the 'traditional' roles and think that means one is less than the other.

All those activities sound wonderful. I spend a lot of time walking around or tending my garden.

None of it was too much, I feel as if we both have a lot of similar values, but I do worry we might approach all of them from slightly different angles. Which doesn't mean this is a match doomed to fail by any means, but I do want to be transparent about my thoughts with you, especially since you've been so transparent with yours.

That's quite the exciting name you have there. I'm curious, are you more into doughnuts or explosives?

I suppose I should also ask you about your ideal first date, and should I be worried that it could involve something blowing up?
