Saw Obsession last night and it left me speechless. It left me uncomfortable. It left me second guessing the shadows in my house for the rest of the night. What a deeply unsettling film! What a great way to make commentary about how the fantasies we create in our minds to soothe ourselves and the words we speak without care are most likely not what we would want in reality. Also, the sleekness of giving another perspective to the “nice guy” territory and the idea that no matter what, the wants of a man often overpower the autonomy of women is top tier and deserves to be talked about more. I’d love to see more concepts like this, wishes being granted and them literally becoming nightmares simply because people don’t think things through. From the bone chilling acting performances to the spine rattling scares, I deeply enjoyed this film. I can’t wait to rewatch this.

Let’s not forget Bear also took advantage of Nikki because she was never able to give her consent when with him. She did tell him during the brief moment when she was able to speak as herself (when the obsessed version of Nikki was asleep) that she was never really with him.
