The pain stopped.

Only a warm feeling of being one with the faltine again. More than that, she saw now all the connections, the energy moving. This wasn't a prison anymore, it was a river of light, a river she emerged from in her true faltine form. A bright white flame , something she had never been able to do because of her hybrid status, seemed now to come naturally. A purple energy crackeled around her as she lifted up in the air in a vibrant sonic sound. She enjoyed the bliss for a moment before she floated back down to the women waiting for her.

Her eyes focused somewhere, far away. She heard music, laughs. She was so young, he was swinging her around , she could feel his heart beat, his hands on the small of her back. He had taught her what music was, and how to express love. She saw herself making weird mouvements while he was laughing and kissing her. She focused on the warm feeling of acceptance, the feeling of being the one and only focus of someone's love. She pushed herself up to sit up again.

From her persepctive, she looked at Umar. A pure energy with a purpose who had been banished, traumatized and despite so much power was still just as flawed as Strange. "I forgive you" she said. She tried to get up. "I didn't ask to be born... but I will not apologize for my desires and wishes, I am to blame for the sacrifices I made, but I need that guilt to remind myself that I'm doing this for me....to be able to safe the dark dimension...and keep the ember of my love for my husband alive. "

She brought her hands to her throat, then her head. Why did she think she had a chance. She had been beaten by her oncle, by her cousin, she had betrayed the love of her life for this ? Was it really worth the struggle if she really just climbed into a bed of death. She shook her head and tried to swim up to only be pulled down again. Her hand was hanging in the darkness as it shrouded her. Had she only been stronger. This power was meant to change her, not consume her to a crisp. She closed her eyes and for a moment waited for the inevitable.

The sorcreress was looking at the red and firey horizon , her hair and cape moved by the hot breeze that came from below. While she waited , she thought back on all she did. After Wong and Strange had pulled her from Nessa's darkness, things had changed for her. She had felt her faltine heritage react to this, energy on energy. She could have waited for Strange to find a solution, he would have in forsaking himself probably. However her journey also entailed to gain back control. She wanted to enjoy her husband as the man she loved, not the problem fixer. And for a while, it worked , but it wasn't the same.

He was keeping secrets from her, as she did. Her biggest now finalized. It had been quite the tricky part, not getting his attention, making small accidents that were not apparent to be linked. First, she had asked Loki , who had denied his magic to her, to steal papers from the Sanctum. The god had done so, taking not only what she needed but also a multitude of papers so it would appear he only had done some research about dimensionnal protection for his castle. As he had returned the papers to Strange later , the suspiscion remained small and away from her.

The knowledge she gained was one of a dagger that allowed temporal rifts that could open even sealed dimensions. Desperate she was going out on something she had heard as a child from her uncle. A tale of a well of pure energy . She had this hope that she could maybe find a way to get to this and be whole again. The problem was, the dagger was in the custody of Atlantis or so they wrote. She had had a choice, tell Strange of her idea or go to someone else. She had almost done it, however, her pride got in her way, and so, she let her ears wander, being quiet and just a human helped a lot to gain information. And men always wanted more. She overheard a conversation about a certain Osborn one note in the bar without doors. Thus she contacted him, which came to a deal, he would get her the dagger in exchange of an impossible task, bring back Zemo.

Now Clea was not one to dwell in necromantic magic, and pulling a soul would alert everyone who was looking out for such things. So, she had met with old friends, seemingly pleasing Wong and Strange in gaining more social aspects. The topic of their conversation was how to bring back a dead person without destroying the balance. The solution was a calculated incursion of someone's life which was also forfeit but was still alive. While she could not practice magic, she guided them into finding such a man. Sokovian Zemo was agreed upon to be the best fit. Now to the part of opening the multi-verse, the spell required : the bones of the deceased , a life force to anker the new Zemo and the essence of a being existing in all dimensions. The bones were easy to get through Osborn, as to the life force , the choice was hard to do, she did not want to steal from anyone's time , so she took the one who had passed his time : Steve. She had not done anything herself, but there had been a spell that he would die as soon as Zemo would became a citizen of this dimension. And lastly, her most haunting choice. Maybe she wanted revenge for the rejection, maybe ...maybe it was easier to explain everything , justify it in the eyes of her conscience...she ached for her last choice ...Loki in many ways had been another form of soulmate.

       If James smiled, it wasn’t visible, but he did. “I know Sam, but right now, you’re the only one who can.” he reassured him. He waited for his intel by watching the south office window. He noticed a guard, maybe too well-armed and didn’t trust the main entrance. So he put his attention back to Sam. He frowned. “Someone in the vents? … Are we alone on this at least?” Luke got tensed and so did Bucky. This could make it go all wrong. Barnes clenched his tooth for a moment as he saw one of the guards Sam talked about walking towards them. “Luke, go Northwest, take the guard down and check for the stolen goods and anything interesting. Sam… We’re gonna check who that is.” Bucky didn’t wait and surprised the guard by sliding beneath him, putting him down on the floor, knocking him off and hiding him where the other guard was. He then quickly made his way to the northeast room. “Let’s go, Sam.”

“That’s what it looks like. Can’t get much more info on ‘em until we can get an actual visual.” Sam wasn’t sure but he had a bad feeling about what was crawling around up there. He heard Bucky’s orders and waited until Bucky arrived to move. “There’s an opening coming up. I can get Redwing to unlatch it and whatever is in there will come on out.” He typed on his wristpad the instructions and waited until the subject was close to the opening before undoing the latch and removing the floor from under them.

The young hero crawled through the vents. “Become a superhero, use your powers responsibly; it’ll be a lot of fun.” The young hero grumbled, “No one ever said there’d be vent crawling. The young man groaned as he kept going, there seemed to be no way out, until finally he saw a grate and with a simple push it opened; allowing himself to drop down onto the ground with a gentle thud. “Hey guys!”

No answer for Spidey, which could mean just about anything. Maybe he had been caught and had turned off his comm to prevent them from being caught too. Or maybe he had no connection in there, which would mean their ennemies were technologicaly advanced, because their own tech wasn’t that bad at all. But she didn’t have time to think about it too much, as she had Venom t handle.

“What? No! We don’t kill people, Venom. That’s a bad thing to do.” Hypocrit, to say the least. But let them do it once and he’d probably feel entitled to do it many times after. “Okay, can you see how many there are? If it’s more or less clear, we can take them out. As in make them unconscious, not dead.”

Luke Cage agreed and went to the west. So on the left after Bucky took care of the oncoming guard. He stumbled on a locked door , not wanting to trigger an alarm he left it be for now, and focused on the other one. Taking out  a guy in the rest room was not really tasteful but he did it anyway. 

Meanwhile Peter gave Bucky and Sam a heart attack by landing behind them . (Friday chose  shriek  from Sam)  Maybe it was a trigger from an old encounter with Bloody Mary , or maybe the man did not expect a grown spandex form to come from the ceiling. He did give a very manly shriek to the dismay of Bucky and probably scared the shit out of Peter.  Of course that alerted everyone in the building and alarms and guns went all the way.  Thankfully Luke was quick to run back, providing a quite effective shielding against  the incoming fire.  “WE NEED TO GET OUT”  he yelled ( don’t get the goods said Friday)  with no other option, Luke pushed the team out but attempted to get some of the stolen good.  All it got him was a wound, which was not what he expected, but he nonetheless grabbed something, not sure what , but no real time to think.

Outside, things got interesting because Venom just disobeyed Maria and went on a rampage , leaving her with the most done face in mind kind’s history. While SHIELD officers came  in as back up.  Had anyone called them ? Not sure ? Yet there they were, accompanied by the rest of Hammer finishing the rest off.  One yelled that rogue Avengers had been spotted and that a team should secure the warehouse and the other search the area.

“Even better,” Rocket replied, falling down into the bay and thankful that he could breath and walk without space causing problems. “I’ll go get the ammo for the cannon.” Rocket scurried off to the cannon ammo cache, grabbing the charges they would need to send the biggest blast to this fucking ship that ruined his afternoon. Stupid aliens. It didn’t take long to get to the cannons. They were free but Groot was floating. “Groot, you idiot! Stark, Groot launched himself into space. I’ll load up the cannons and then I’m grabbing the idiot. Try not to blast us, okay?” It didn’t take long for Rocket to load up the charges before initiating his holosuit again and proppeling out with his jetpack to Groot. “After this, we’re gonna have another long conversation about doing reckless shit, buddy. I can’t keep savin’ your life over and over again.”

Groot was fine, not really worrying, letting this to Rocket and did some looping like the happy idiot he could be. He waved at Rocket when this one arrived next to him. “I am Groot.” He replied with a smile of insolence, not pushing him away but still having the last word. “I am Groot.” It wasn’t a pity excuse, just a fact that between Rocket, Carol or even the Silver Surfer, a lot of people could easily help him, it wasn’t a big deal. The canons, however, concerned Groot, not because he was worried to be touch, Rocket was there to move them away, so it was all good, but for the rest of the squad still in the other ship. “I am Groot?” He asked, using the comms and not really liking this, blowing things could be fun but not when it could arm his friends.

       Gamora grinned. Of course he wouldn’t say a thing. For now. She looked at Peter. “Drax, can you take care of those? he asked to push the others away from the control panel. “We need to make them back off from the Peak before they make too much damage.” Gamora agreed and punched the man to force him to kneel down. She then took control of that ship, or at least the weaponry. “Stark, Rocket, Groot, we’re gonna fire at them, don’t shoot us.” she inquired before activating the weapons towards the others ships around them.

Tony was not waisting time getting the guns hot so to speak.  He did not want to have any more bad surprises. Of course he would not put his team in danger, he was not that kind of hero. But a close call by the book was in his eyes justified.  //Understood, delivering helping fire to send those assholes back to shithole//  he replied. Before shooting anything, he communicated with Jessica to use the Peak to attract Rocket and Groot faster by slightly rotating it, and thus also having a better angle to fire. From there on, it was battle royale in space. The main canon fired to one of the ships beneath the main ship. 

With now both the mothership and Peak firing on the extra attack ships,the battle was easily won. However, in the midst of the ensuing battle, one escape pod was able to flee, heading back to parts unknown. “Alright, so now we got two ships. What do you think? See if we can sell it to the highest bidder?” Quill asked as he flew it towards the Peak.

“No, Quill. We need to examine it to figure out where it came from,” Carol replied with a roll of her eyes.

“Just get the prisoners on board here while we figure out what to do with them. Stark, if you’re done having your fun with the cannons, we could use some assistance up on the bridge,” Jessica stated over the coms as she finished reeling in Rocket and Groot.

“Oh brother,” Rocket groaned as Groot propelled them down the side of the ship, “We’re crawling through the remnants of destroyed ship deck and that’s all you have to say? We gotta work on your professionalism, Groot.” The big oaf was, of course, Rocket’s friend and he felt a need to protect the big guy, but sometimes he wondered if Groot was more of a child than an actual adult. But he couldn’t worry about that as they crawled down the side of the ship. When they got closer, Rocket could see a huge pile of rubble where he could only assume Tony was under. “I’m going in to see if this is our idiot.” When Rocket was free of Groot, he used his jetpack to control his descent down, carefully maneuvering through the rubble until he spotted Tony. “Don’t worry, Stark, we got you,” he reassured as he put the suit on him, giving him the much needed oxygen. “Alright, Groot, think you can get this stuff off of him?”

More intrigued than offended, Groot didn’t reply about what he was supposed to work on, he kept his soft smile and crawled down. Close to the problem, he listened and let Rocket go, waiting for his moment, his attention back on the view, more precisely on the main ship where the others seemed to be, waving at them. At his name, Groot focused back. “I am Groot.” It was easy, by putting his hand as close as possible of debris, he let his roots expand to grab all the broken pieces to finally pull them off. “I AM GROOT!” He asked, those things were heavy as hell! The pathway cleared and the two guardians freed, Groot let go and retracted his roots, shaking his hand and losing a bit of his bark.”I am Groot?” He asked, looking back at the main ship, unsure if they should go there or not? Everybody knew that a plan was always an option for the team.

Time seemed stretched for Tony. He was feeling the air become thin, he could feel himself having troubles to stay awake , and he had to manage whatever effort he was making to not waste it. He wondered if anyone had received his message, if they were still alive. He worried. He was responsible for them as much as they were adults. And then, he heard Rocket’s voice. He let a breath of relief escape before he felt the mask and the oxygen.  He coughed and breathed deeply in.  He knew the urgency of the situation so he got out of his “prison” through the passage Groot had opened, plaisanteries could wait. After that, he took a second to gather himself.  “Ship? …what ship ? “ Tony asked , then looked at the same area than Groot.  “Rocket….please tell me they didn’t board that ship ?” Tony asked , going straight to the update he needed on the situation.

       Gamora watched Carol do what she did best. It really was satisfyig to watch but she stayed focus. “It’s clear, go in Peter.” Taking her blade and a blaster in the back of the Milano, she was ready to come in and strike back whoever thought was a good idea to go after them. The landing went well and soon the main door opened in front of her. Gamora let Drax clean the few mercenaries coming at then. She didn’t even look at Peter and followed Drax. “Whatever, Peter. Let’s just go and put an end to this attack right now.” Rushing in, not following the plan. That was what they always did and kind of worked every time. She was used to it. Sword out, Gamora cut some’s legs while she followed Draw in the hallways of the ship. “Do we have a holographic view of the ship? Where is the main room?” 

“Uhhh.....” Peter hummed, blasting a few soldiers in the face as he looked around. “Yeah, totally.” 

Yes, Peter had no idea where the main room was.

“Don’t worry, Star Boy, I’m working on a make up of the ship now,” Jessica spoke in their coms. “Star Lord!”

“Whatever....got it, main room is three decks above you. There’s a elevator down the hall to the right.”

“Yes, let us end this miserable ship once and for all!” Drax yelled, laughing at the end as he made a sprint for the elevator. “Drax, wait, there might be gua....wait, why am I trying to stop him?” Quill asked more to himself as he followed as well.

Rocket, Tony, Groot: Congrats on saving Tony. You can either work on fixing the ship or taking out more of the enemy ships in the area. Your choice. No die roll is needed.

Gamora: Roll a die to see the resistance once you reach the main room. 1-2 little resistance, you cut through them easily, 3-4 a little bit of resistance, it’s not too easy but you don’t break a sweat 5-6 heavy resistance, hashing and bashing, it might take a bit of time.

       He replied to Sam’s nod. You could say whatever you wanted about both of them and how they behaved around each other, but they were loyal to each other, forming a great duo in action. Bucky trusted him to watch over his back and the other way around. The dark days reinforced that bond. “Shit.” he heard Luke. At the same time Bucky noticed the light motion detector. He didn’t really have time to warn him. The guy was kinda big. (Friday said yes, the light attracts the attention of a guard. Dice: 3 → 2 due to Luke’s bonus.) Barnes gently pushed him against the nearest wall as he heard footsteps incoming. “Falcon, stay on your mark for now.” As the spy he was, he looked at his environment rather quickly and made a sign at Luke to follow him in silence between the two forklifts. The light made the guard come into the zone they were in, protected from any other guard. The guard checked around, heard a noise coming from the two of them and Bucky moved behind the second forklift. “Falcon, there’s a target on your twelve, in the door’s line. Can you take care of it quietly?”

“Spidey, you’ll joke later all you want. Right now, please to not mess up your infiltration by forgetting to be silent.” Maria doubted he could be silent all along, but if they could avoid being notice for a little while, she’d take it.

But of course luck wasn’t one their side, and the moment she thought about it, she noticed the drone. Which had seen them, that wasn’t even a question considering how it was placed. “Venom, take that drone down. Silently. We can’t alert any more people than this.” She only had guns, she needed to not make much noise and keep as mush ammo as she could if this turned a very bad way, so Venom would have to do for now.

Sam kept his position high up, watching down below to make sure that no one was able to sneak up on Bucky or Luke. Yet somehow, the idiots managed to turn on a light sensor. “Good job, Barnes. I thought you were supposed to be a super spy.” It was light-hearted but definitely full of the dryness from his lack of actual amusement. They couldn’t allow this to go bad. But anyway, he spotted the bogey at his twelve. “Yeah, I got him. Redwing engaged.” The drone flew from his back and headed towards the target, ready to fire a single shot to knock him out. (Friday rolled 5) The idiot never saw the drone coming until a single shot hit him in the neck, killing him instantly. “Target is down.”

Peter ignored Maria, they both knew that he couldn’t keep quiet. There was some kind of commotion going on back there but he trusted the others to take care of it. There were three vents in his way and he sighed for a moment, “It’s always three, what is this? A video game?” Finally he slid through the second vent and slung himself to the nearest shadow and looked around, letting his eyes adjust.

Venom smiled. “But of course.” he agreed and dealt with the drone by using his abilities to morph and catch it rather easily.

Crack, nothing of the drone left. It amused Venom , despite annoying Eddie. They really could have used it for something else. The symbiote caught the light going on in the back and even he found it quite strange. “Are. …weeee …moving in ?” he stated , salivating at the thought already. 

Spidey : congratulations you have chosen the second vent, which got you all the way to the restricted room. Thankfully for you, there were no laser fancy grids to saw you in half or triggering things...oh well don’t touch the floor. The restricted room is rather narrow, not lit (as no one makes use of it)  It is locked with a secure door which requires 2 way identification. Your radio does not work in here. You can find weapons, some documents marked hydra with other logos of affiliated companies , some having Jusine Hammer’s name on them.  And then there is a massive safe. For your knowledge it holds the following : blueprints of one location of Hydra  , a prototype gun to cancel mutants’ powers , money , a spider  kind of similar to the one who gave you your powers.  You are free to do with the information what you want. However, should you try to lockpick the safe it’s going to be a medium to hard action: throw  6 dices 2 faced   (1-failure, 2-success)  , you have to have 3 successes on your dice to open it.  Force opening it will trigger the alarm, anything under 3 successes will trigger the silent alarm, gathering one heavy armed guard patrol towards that area. 

Bucky, Sam : you have bodies laying there, you have to get rid of them one way or another to not attract the attention of other guards or drones. You can enter the building and choose a route to go.

This was a terrible plan. An absolutely, positively terrible plan. But Stark was losing air and they didn’t have much other choice before he got brain damaged. Once Gamora was gone and Groot had a firm hold on him, Rocket initiated his own hologram spacesuit and aimed his blaster gun. “Alright, on three. One….two….three!” With a single blast, Rocket opened a hole in the side of the ship, pulling Groot and Rocket through. He knew Groot would catch them and when he did, Rocket sealed up the breach with his repair gone. Easy peasy. For now. But now that they were outside, Rocket saw the damage. “Holy shit, this is going to take a lot to fix,” he muttered, looking at the destruction. He was definitely going to need Stark on this with him. “Alright, Stark should be straight down two levels. Let’s go!”

Was it an inappropriate moment to say that space was fun? Because space was definitively fun! So despite the situation, the risks and possible death outcome, Groot was smiling and enjoying the feeling of zero gravity. “I am Groot.” He commented, amazed by the stars and totally ignoring the destruction behind him. The first repair done, Groot tried to focus and simply nodded like the good professional he was. Still grabbing Rocket on one side, Groot used his roots against the wall and projected them down, direction level 9 if his memory was good. Spotting the damage, Groot made his wooden fingers grate against the ship’s wall to stabilize them. “I am Groot.” He found clever to say, probably making Captain Obvious proud.

       She took her sit next to Quill and Drax, watching the enemy ships firing at their own. “Who’s ships are those?” She gritted her teeth until Drax saw what looked like indeed the main ship. “We need to take the attention on us so they stop targetting the Peak. We’ve been through worse than this, right?” Gamora looked at Quill to get his approval. “Maybe start to target the weapon system and bring down their shield. If it’s getting out of control Drax and I will go inside and find the one who dares to come at us.” The Milano flew towards the main ship as Gamora reached for her coms. “Carol, can you help us with the weapon system and have our back if needed?”

“Consider it done,” Carol replied in the coms, racing towards the mother ship. It was too easy for her to dismantle their weapons systems. Hell, she could have done it with her eyes close. She blasted the turrets away and even left a hole big enough for the Milano to enter. “You’re free to land, Gamora.”

How well does Quill land the Milano? 1-2 Smooth sailing, that’s why he’s the captain, 3-4 could have been smoother, but you’re in one piece 5-6 CRASH LANDING! EVERYONE HIT THE DECK!! Friday chose - 2!

“Alright, everyone hang on to their butt-cheeks.”

Carol had made a big enough hole for the Milano to enter and Quill landed with ease. Are they immediately under attack? Friday chose - no! It looked like mercenaries were not ready for the Milano to fly in so when they landed, they had the element of surprise. Drax was the first off the Milano, leaping into action and fighting what mercenaries there were with a wild laugh. “Looks like someone’s having fun,” Quill commented as he blasted a few in the face. “Alright, I say we go find whoever is in charge, have them call off the attack and maybe see if they have anything good before we split. Sound good to you?”

Tony was thinking of what doing. There was only one thing he needed and there was only one person who knew where it was because he helped build it. Tony hooked his watch again to the panel and mixed around. He was a genius, he was skilled and of course it worked.  /Ninth level, alive, get the space suit Rocket/ was all he had time to say before his watch burned with the rest of the panel. He took his watch off and stumbled back….okay now he was feeling one rib making itself known…or maybe it was his head. He wasn’t sure.

When Gamora finally got to him, Rocket threw his free arm up in exasperation. “About freakin’ time! What took you so long?” He took the items from her and did a quick check. “Yeah, yeah I have everything. I’m sure metal-head….” but Rocket stopped when he got the communication from Stark on his diagnostic tablet. “See? There you go. He’s alive. Now go to your boyfriend before he freaks out.” Just beyond her, he saw Groot finally arrive. “Just in time. Listen, I got an idea to get to Stark. I’m gonna blast open the door. We’re gonna get sucked out and once we’re outside, you grab onto whatever is out there while I repair the breach before getting down to Stark.” This was probably a terrible plan, but with the doors sealed up top, there was no other way outside without wasting time Stark didn’t have. “Got it?”

Groot wasn’t that slow, he just had to catch up with everything that was happening and damn it was a mess. Finally reaching the good place and shared a look to Gamora and Rocket. “I am Groot.” He said, asking to not blow up Tony in the process, almost kidding. However, he agreed, “I am Groot.” trusting Rocket on this and started to let his roots grow up significantly, enough to grab Rocket on one side and fix himself in the ground to not be sucked out too violently. “I am Groot?” He asked to Gamora, to know if he also needed to grab her or not.

       She reached her coms with a hand. “On my way, stop whining again, what got all of you.” She was quite relaxed about this situation compared to others, but she experienced that sort of things too many times to start panicking whenever she could. Gamora then looked up at Groot. “Thanks, but I’m leaving to join the others.” She gently patted his shoulder and left before they could ensure their plan. She ran until she reached the other guardians, jumping into the Milano. “What are you waiting for, just go before they blow everything up already.” 

“I was waiting for you,” Quill commented as the doors shut behind Gamora and they piloted out into the fray. (Does the Milano get damaged from enemy gunfire? Friday says: no!) Enemy gunfire was already heading straight towards them but with Quill’s expert flying skills, he was able to avoid any from hitting them. “If we’re going to end this, we need to find the head ship. Cut off the head and all that shit,” Quill noted as they flew between the enemy ships. (Who spots the head ship? Friday says: Drax!) “Look, there!” Drax announced, pointing to the largest ship in the fleet, “There we will find the snake who’s head we will cut off!”

Does the enemy ships hit Peak again? Friday chose: yes!

How bad is the damage: 1-2 not too bad, nothing that can’t be fixed easily 3-4 it’s bad but not catastrophic 5-6 uhhhhh, you probably should not get another hit like that. Friday chose: 6!

“We got incoming!” Jessica announced and unlike this time, they didn’t miss. The outpost rocked when the large hit came, red lights blaring another alarm. “Deck 3 has been hit! Quill, we cannot take another hit like that! You guys better do something or we’re all screwed!”
