“Hi, I love Yukina, she is beautiful and sweet and she likes to bring me back from the brink of darkness with her smile.”

“Yes sometimes I just walk around enjoying the weather to relax.”

A smile to go with the girls chuckle “Rambling can be a bit of an issue for some, it’s not bad in this case though.”

So she also chose to enjoy nature? It was nice to find someone that was similar.

“I see. Then I appreciate it, thank you. There’s just something serene and peaceful being surrounded by other living beings. Reminds me of how alive and free I am.” Because every living creature within the woods were free, not confined to one specific place or another.

“Nah, you’re right.” He replied, grinning wide. “It never used to be, but I guess I picked up some of grandma’s old habits. Plus, dying twice kinda makes you stop and appreciate things I guess." 

He let his hands fall to his sides before he turned to face the ice apparition. "It’s been a lot slower lately, so these days I’ve just been working at the ramen stand. I’ve got a knack for it though, so I don’t mind puttin’ the unofficial detective work on the back burner for a bit. How about you? Have you seen Kuwabara?”

“Hehe, I suppose that’s true. You’re very lucky.” Going through something like that surely would give a person a different perspective on life. Living with Genkai really could do a number as well, which made her love going there even more.

It was probably rare in this country for girls to EVER act on their feelings when they liked other girls. Anime and manga weren’t exactly realistic. Kazuma, though…

Kazuma was a boy’s name. Of course boys would approach this entirely differently. “Boys…get to be more upfront about this. The West in general gets to be more upfront about this - I never really had to be closeted that much in the States and we have place specifically for…ugh, the stuff here doesn’t seem to like foreigners very much.” Not that she blamed them too hard - she’d seen the havoc western tourists wreaked when they came over. 

“I’m glad that you care. Not a lot of people do.” And then her teacup spilled, liquid spreading in a pattern where it missed their hands and clothes entirely. She turned around and scruffed the nearest cat - it seemed all six of them were lounging about now. 

“Really? You can do THAT but you couldn’t just not let it spill in the first place?” She sighed. “Gimme paper towels at least.” For Yukina’s benefit she stuck to Japanese but it was snippy, the bare minimum of proper grammar and hideously informal, borderline delinquent speech. But the requested paper towels appeared and she got to cleaning up the mess. “Should make YOU do it.” She grumbled, grabbing for the teacup. Oh joy, plastic, and it still managed to chip. Whatever, she could buy another from a convenience store. 

Her fattest of the six, Felis, came marching over and tried to plop herself onto Yukina’s lap - difficult to do when one’s sitting seiza but she managed somehow, and twisted around with her cat spine to give Yukina an almost human grin. 

“Of course I care.”  She opted to reach over to gently grab her hand before the sudden cup spilled over, stopping Yukina in mid-movement. It really was something to see Poppy interacting with her cats; actually, it was pretty amusing too but she saved that for later and focused on the young girl instead.

The koorime tried her best to better position her body for the sudden addition of one of her cats but it was awkward. It seemed to know exactly what it was doing once it smiled back at her, Yukina giving somewhat of an awkward one back. “I assume you’re comfortable.” She said jokingly before looking back at Poppy.

Snorting a laugh, Serori shook her head as she took a few shots at the bulbous growth of supernatural sludge, to no effect. “That’s cute that you think I have any say in this.” The demon beast would hatch when it hatched, and there was nothing anyone could do about it. Time passed differently in the sub-dimensions, where hours or even days inside were only minutes to the Human world. Not that any of that was going to stop her from emptying her clip into the egg, just in case.

Thankfully, it seemed that they’d stumbled upon a particularly irritable strain of demon, as the egg began to crack and split open not long after Serori’s last bullet had glanced off the side. Within seconds, the hardened shell gave way and began to collapse back into liquid, while a large, scorpion-like creature scuttled over the remnants, spitting some foul-smelling liquid from its mouth.

“Ikondan,” Serori muttered. “Ever seen anything like it? The dripping’s a dead giveaway.” Swirling her flaming chain up around one side, it seems to cling to her arm like some kind of gauntlet. “So, in two sentences or less, what do you do? ‘Cause I’d like to know if I can count on you for anything, or if I should really just take this myself.”

Yukina didn’t respond right away, instead looking at the egg hatching and practically melting not too long after. Her gaze went over to the woman seconds after.

“...Yes.” She finally answered. Seeing something like this wasn’t unheard of. “I’m an ice apparition. I’m sure that’s a good enough description for two sentences or less, correct?”

“She really is wonderful isn’t she, giving so much and asking so little.”

“I only hope one day I can be as powerful and kind as she is.”

“No kidding. I don’t usually get a lot of time to stop and take it all in between work and whatever else I’ve got to do during the week, but hey… It’s pretty nice.” He smiled slightly, folding his arms behind his head before letting out a soft sigh.

Yukina chuckled.
