Amethyst liked Greg's long hair, so she has the same hair now. By the same logic some gems may like the way men look. I'm not sure gems would feel dysphoria but they may be interested in their (men) appearance.

It seems to me that in every gem (except Diamonds, probably) there are limitations in reforming. I mean they can't change their shape much. Each gem has its own standard of shape
