I'm slowly forgetting your face.
Okay I’m gonna be a little blunt justttt for tonight but I REALLY don’t like when artists make backhanded comments like “I don’t think giving Wemmbu long hair/pretty clothing/etc fits him, so here’s my version!! More accurate IMO.”
It just comes off so… irritating. And I say this as someone who genuinely loves art!! I could spend hours analyzing people’s styles because I enjoy it that much like bruhhhh I LOVE CREATIVE DESIGNS I LOVE DIFFERENT STYLES I LOVEEE ART So I’m NOT coming from a negative place, just being honest.....
It’s especially noticeable on TikTok (yeah, I know… I should probably get off there DONT REMIND ME). I’ll see different Wemmbu designs, some I personally love, and then the comments are like, “finally a masculine Wemmbu!!” or “this is better than all the other basic designs,” and the artist is agreeing with them too??? Like wow? Let me unfollow you because WHATTTT I hate it I hate it I hate it I hate it
Like, I completely understand wanting to create the version you personally prefer. I do the same, if I want a certain kind of representation, I’ll just make it myself!! But there’s no reason to put other interpretations down in the process. The wording matters a lot in this case A LOTTT
To me, everyone’s designs and art styles are genuinely beautiful in their own way.
If anything, a better way to elevate your work is just focusing on your choices instead of comparing them to others???
FOR EXAMPLE:
For the artist → “HELLO!! I made this design and went with shorter hair because I thought it would suit his fighting style etc..”
For the commenter → “This design is GORGEOUS!! I love what you did with the colors! etc..”
Same process, just WITHOUT bringing anyone else down🙏🫶💛
