You would be a fool to underestimate them though - as these cats are driven by their instincts to protect one another. To mess with one of them is to mess with all of them, and not every cat is as forgiving as you might think.
The Clan’s roots trail back to the city, founded by an older molly called Daisy who sought a safe haven to raise her kits, far away from the tyranny that the city bore down upon anyone who dared try and make a life for themself. She was guided in her dreams, where she was told to follow the path of the rising sun. And soon enough, Daisy, who was heavily pregnant at the time and due to bear her kits any day, traveled far beyond the city she was oh so familiar with.
It was a hellish, exhausting journey but as promised, she reached the haven from her dreamland. From then on started Meadowclan’s legacy.
âśż Appearance, Traits, and Characteristicsâśż
Visually, Meadowclan cats are easily the most diverse of the three clans. Their pelts come in every shade and every pattern though calicos and tortoiseshells tend to be slightly more common. Cats with darker fur usually develop an orange tint over time due to the sun rusting their fur.
Meadowclan cats wear flowers in their fur as a symbol of their bond with nature and the territory sustaining them. Similar to Tideclan, Meadowclan cats are fond of accessorising and it's common practise for cats to craft more extravagant decals rather than just collecting petals in their fur. Apprentices start with dainty little bracelets, taking blades of long grass and weaving flowers into it - often, friends or siblings will make matching bracelets to show their companion and kinship. More seasoned cats within the clan can spent evening after evening making headpieces, necklaces, and tail decals.
When it comes to names within Meadowclan flower and plant based names are the most common, followed closely by anything related to nature. Kits being named after predators is a rarity but that doesn't mean it never happens. 'Bee' is a prefix exclusive to Meadowclan, as bees are the clan's sacred animal.
Meadowclan are the most receptive to outsiders amongst their ranks. They believe in treating everybody with kindness unless they have done something to leave them undeserving of hospitality. Their territory is very open compared to Pineclan and Tideclan who are hidden away behind the forest and sheltered by the tall cliffs edging the beach, so it's only natural that any travellers would stumble upon Meadowclan first. Meadowclan's roots trace back to the city and they aren't quick of forgetting their ancestry. Instead they embrace it, which is why they treat outsiders as equals.
âśż Religion and Beliefs âśż
Meadowclan's perception of Starclan and the afterlife differs slightly to the other two clans. Whilst they do very much believe in Starclan and its divinity, they also worship nature and the world sustaining them. They're akin to druids and treat nature with respect - they don't kill without needing to kill and take only what they need and never more. This respect is instilled from kithood, and parents are expected to encourage respect in their children.
They very much believe in the ides that 'it takes a village' and everyone is expected to help out when it comes to taking care of the young. Connection within the clan is an important value to them as they believe that trust amongst their ranks is essential for their survival. Two cats may not get along, such is life, but cats should be able to count on one another when it counts.
