tbh im not entirely immune to a villain with a tragic backstory but i do think villain origins are a lot more interesting when the focus is less "here is the original sin, the first big bad thing that happened to them that made them who they are" and more "here is the first time a person who maybe otherwise felt powerless in their life realized that they could hurt someone and get away with it"

the most key feature of an oc is they're the specialist in the whole wide world but also a complete loser

gotta be honest I think a REAL juicy dynamic is when someone has a True Love and a Soulmate and they are two different people

and what if the character wasn't directly rejected but at every turn they were made to experience situations that made them feel completely irrefutably unwanted. what then

me when there's a cruel horrible cynical mean girl who has ONE person she cares about more than anything in the world and that person alone is enough for their mask to slip, and for her to reveal how hurt and scared and alone she feels like she is

I actually ADORE it when a character crashes out. Let them YELL let them SCREAM let them HURT THOSE AROUND THEM with or without meaning to. I need to see more crash outs
